Vivo X Fold 5 is the lightest foldable with 6,000mAh battery, 100x zoom camera

Vivo has announced its much-awaited foldable phone in China. Dubbed the Vivo X Fold 5, it’s the lightest foldable phone with a battery as big as 6,000mAh. Despite that, it has a comparatively slim body and packs solid internals.

Some of its highlights include a tablet-sized 2K AMOLED primary screen, a Snapdragon chipset, and a water-resistant design. Here’s everything you need to know.

Vivo X Fold 5 key features and highlights

The Vivo X Fold 5 brings big upgrades. It boasts a large 8.03-inch 2K+ primary display, which is an LTPO AMOLED screen on the inside. The screen has a 120Hz refresh rate and 10.7 billion colours. There’s also a 6.53-inch secondary display on the outside, again an LTPO AMOLED screen with a 120Hz refresh rate and FHD+ resolution.

The foldable gets Zeiss optics, featuring a triple-rear camera system on the back. It has a 50MP Sony IMX921 main sensor with OIS support. It is assisted by a 50MP ultra-wide sensor and a 50MP IMX882 periscope telephoto unit with 3x optical zoom and 100x digital zoom. For selfies, there’s a 20MP camera on the inner and outer display.

For performance, the X Fold 5 uses the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset, which isn’t the latest, but is still quite powerful. It’s paired with up to 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM and up to 1TB of UFS 4.0 storage. The device packs a large 6,000mAh battery with 80W fast charging support.

Like some other Vivo phones, the X Fold 5 also supports integration with Apple devices. That means you can pair your Apple devices, including AirPods, Apple Watch, and Mac, with the X Fold 5. Although it lacks a dust-resistant rating, the foldable does get IPX8, IPX9, and IPX9+ water-resistant ratings.

Some of the phone’s connectivity options include 5G, Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.4, NFC, and GPS. Lastly, the phone boots on Android 15 OS and has OriginOS 5 on top.

Vivo X Fold 5 price and availability

As for the price, the Vivo X Fold 5 starts at CNY 6,999 (about Rs 83,700) for the base 12GB RAM + 256GB and goes up to CNY 9,499 (about Rs 1,13,600) for the top-of-the-line 16GB RAM + 1TB storage variant.

Currently, the foldable phone is only available in China; however, it’s expected to be available in global markets soon. It could also arrive in India later.
