Over the past year, Discord has steadily evolved its Quests advertising product into a more dynamic and user-friendly experience. From tighter integrations with games to streamlined reward mechanics, the platform has focused on keeping user engagement at the centre.
Now, Discord is adding two major updates that take Quests a step further, with a new virtual currency called Discord Orbs, and an ad measurement partnership with Kantar.
What are Discord Orbs?
As announced by the platform, a small group of users will begin earning Discord Orbs, which is a virtual reward that can be used to claim items in the Shop. These include exclusive perks like Nitro credits, profile cosmetics, and other first-party rewards, all without needing a payment method. That makes Orbs especially useful for users who want to explore Nitro benefits without committing to a subscription.
Orbs are earned by completing Quests, the platform’s engagement-driven ad format. For advertisers, this simplifies the campaign process, as there’s no longer a need to provide custom incentives. Discord handles the reward experience, letting brands focus on storytelling that fits naturally into the gaming ecosystem.
Discord is also partnering with Kantar to bring best-in-class brand measurement to Quests. Using Kantar’s established methodology, advertisers can now track key metrics like brand awareness, ad recall, and purchase intent. It’s a way to better understand how Discord’s ad experiences impact user perception over time.

Discord plans to expand Play Quests, which reward users for playing their favourite games, to support more titles and brand partners. And with a debut planned at Cannes this year, the company is actively inviting new collaborations.
For the community, this means more chances to earn, personalise, and play, just by doing what they already love. It deepens platform engagement while making advertising feel less intrusive and more rewarding.
