The last couple of months have been quite exciting in the smartphone space, with the launch of Apple’s iPhone 15, Samsung Galaxy Z Fold5 and Flip5, and the OnePlus Open to name a few. The Xiaomi 14 series happens to be the latest in line boasting of top-of-the-range specs, and more. After months in the rumour mills, the latest flagship devices from Xiaomi have finally been launched in China.

The new Xiaomi 14 series consists of two devices – Xiaomi 14 and the higher-end Xiaomi 14 Pro. Both are powered by Qualcomm’s latest chipset for mobile devices, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3. Let’s take a look at both smartphones in closer detail.

Xiaomi 14 Pro features and specifications

The Xiaomi 14 Pro is available in three storage variants – one with 12GB RAM and 256GB of storage, and two with 16GB RAM and either 512GB or 1TB of storage.

The Xiaomi 14 Pro is backed by a 4,880mAh battery that supports 120W wired charging, and 50W wireless HyperCharge charging.

The device features an all-around liquid display, which curves down on all four sides and corners. It is a 6.7-inch screen with LTPO display technology, providing variable refresh rates between 1-120Hz. It also features a WQHD+ resolution (3220 x 1440 pixels), peak brightness of as much as 3,000 nits, and support for Dolby Vision HDR. On the audio front, is a four-mic array and stereo speaker setup with support for Dolby Atmos.

Coming to the camera, there is a 50MP light hunter sensor, a 50MP telephoto lens, and a 50MP ultra-wide-angle lens on the rear. On the front is a 32MP camera for selfies and video calls.

Xiaomi 14 features and specifications

The base Xiaomi 14 is available in as many as four storage variants. There is one with 8GB RAM and 256GB of storage, one with 12GB RAM and 512GB of storage, and two 16GB RAM variants, with either 512GB or 1TB storage options.

Powering the device is a 4,610mAh battery, with support for 90W wired, and 50W wireless HyperCharge charging. The device sports a smaller 6.36-inch LTPO display with a 1.5K resolution, a variable refresh rate of between 1-120Hz, and a peak brightness of 3,000 nits. The display also features support for Dolby Vision HDR.

Speaking of optics, the device features a triple-camera setup on the rear, similar to the more expensive Xiaomi 14 Pro. There is a 50MP primary lens, a 50MP wide-angle camera, and a 50MP telephoto lens. On the front, is a 32MP camera for selfies and video calls.

On the audio front too, similar to the higher-end Xiaomi 14 Pro, is a four-mic array and stereo speaker setup, with support for Dolby Atmos.

Both smartphones, the Xiaomi 14 and Xiaomi 14 Pro, will come running on Xiaomi’s new HyperOS operating system, which is modeled on the Android Open Source Project (AOSP), and not Google’s Android. It replaces Xiaomi’s MIUI operating system, which was over a decade old.

The Xiaomi 14 series will be available in jade green, black, white, and snow mountain pink colours. Details of the devices’ launch dates and pricing in India, and other international markets, remain under wraps as of now.
