The upcoming James Bond game, dubbed 007 First Light, has been delayed once again. Earlier poised to launch in March 2026, it’s now set to arrive in the summer. IO Interactive stated that the developers require additional time to polish and fine-tune the experience. Here’s all you need to know.
007 First Light: New release date and premise
IO Interactive, the studio best known for the Hitman series, said the game is already playable from start to finish. However, they need the extra time to improve gameplay flow, tighten animations, and make sure the final release feels polished and complete.
Having said that, the game will now release on May 27, 2026.
The game is said to be an original story set in the early days of Bond’s career. Instead of adapting a movie, the game introduces a younger Bond as he steps into the world of espionage and earns his place as a 00 agent.
Players can expect a mix of stealth, gunplay, high speed chases, and cinematic cut scenes inspired by older movies. The game is set to blend story-driven missions with open-ended gameplay that allows players to approach objectives in different ways.
Since we have already received the trailer and enjoyed the gameplay footage released by Sony, we can’t wait for the game to be available. Unfortunately, we’ll have to wait five more months.
