Google has started pushing out a slick new redesign for Android’s Quick Share to non-Samsung phones, giving the universal file-sharing tool a welcome visual overhaul. This update swaps the old pop-up menu for a cleaner, full-screen interface that first made its debut in Samsung’s One UI 8.0 beta. It signals a wider effort to standardise the user experience across all devices.
Simplifies sending and receiving files across devices
The biggest change is the introduction of two dedicated tabs at the bottom of the screen for sending and receiving. The app now defaults to a refined “Receive” screen, which prominently displays your device’s name and makes it immediately obvious how to accept incoming files.
As reported by Android Authority, this is a massive improvement over the previous design, which confusingly dropped you into the settings menu. The new “Send” tab is also a big step up, featuring a built-in file picker that lets you select multiple items of different types directly within the app. You even get a handy preview for media files before you hit send.

This redesign is the next logical step in unifying Android’s file-sharing system after Google merged its own Nearby Share with Samsung’s Quick Share last year. The goal is a seamless experience for moving files between any Android phone, Windows PC, or Chromebook.
The rollout appears to be a gradual one, so it might not have hit your device just yet. While Google is still exploring official support for Apple’s ecosystem, this quality-of-life update makes juggling files within Android and Windows feel more polished and cohesive than ever before.
