OLED iPad Pro to new Apple Pencil: Everything we expect from Apple’s ‘Let Loose’ event

Apple is gearing up for its first event of the year, which it’s calling ‘Let Loose’. The event is scheduled for May 7 at 10:00AM ET or 7:30PM IST. Now, while Apple hasn’t confirmed just what to expect from the event, there have been several rumours around it all the same.

The graphic for Apple’s ‘Let Loose’ event shows a hand doodling, with an Apple Pencil. This suggests that the company could give us our first glimpse of the latest additions to the iPad lineup, as well as accessories. Read on as we roundup everything that can be announced at the Apple Let Loose event.

M3-powered OLED iPad Pro

Apple could finally unveil its new iPad Pro models with an 11 and a 12.9-inch OLED display and an M3 chipset under the hood. The front camera on the tablets is expected to be shifted to the longer side to take pictures in landscape mode, and it may get thinner bezels as well.

Other features that could make their way to the latest iPad Pro may also be a more pronounced camera bump at the rear and support for MagSafe wireless charging.

M2-powered iPad Air in 11 and 13-inch sizes

The iPad Air could also get a significant upgrade this year and may pack the M2 chipset. The chipset had previously been powering the iPad Pro since 2022, while the iPad Air got an M1 chipset.

What’s more, it is also expected to mirror its more expensive sibling in terms of screen size options this year and may be available in 11 and 12.9-inch screen sizes. Additionally, the front camera on the tablet is expected to be shifted as well, to ensure ease when taking selfies or attending meetings on the move, in landscape mode.

Aluminium Magic Keyboards

Now, iPads may not be the only products from Apple that may be getting an upgrade this year. The company is also expected to introduce significant changes to its Magic Keyboard for the iPad.

It is now expected to be made of aluminium, and therefore be sturdier, and also get a bigger trackpad. It might still get the same soft-touch material as the existing keyboard, and the same single USB Type-C port for connectivity and charging.

Apple pencil with interchangeable tips, squeeze gesture

Apple may also unveil the latest generation of the Apple Pencil with a USB Type-C port. The Apple Pencil could come with interchangeable magnetic tips, each suited to different uses such as sketching, painting, writing, graphic designing, and others. Additionally, it could get a new squeeze gesture, which could be used to quickly add shapes or text boxes to an image, wherever required.

What’s more, code spotted on iPadOS 17.4 also suggests that the stylus may be supported by the Find My app, which currently supports iPhones and iPads, as well as AirPods and AirTags.

Take all of this with a pinch of salt though, as Apple itself has made no comments regarding what to expect from its first event of the year. Let Loose, as we mentioned earlier, is scheduled for May 7 at 7:30PM IST.
