Apple is reportedly working on its first foldable phone, and rumours claim that it may debut in September 2026. The rumour mill has already leaked the display specifications of the foldable iPhone, potentially called the iPhone Fold. A reliable tech blogger from China has claimed that Samsung will be the display supplier for Apple’s first foldable phone.
iPhone Fold to feature Samsung Display panel
Apple is said to be using a mix of display panels from Samsung Display and LG Display for the recently launched iPhone 17 series in most regions except China, where it relies on panels from BOE. The Chinese tipster claims that the screen for the foldable iPhone will be exclusively supplied by one company in all regions in the early stage.
This indicates that the Cupertino-based company may initially use Samsung Display panels for the iPhone Fold in all markets but could add more suppliers later on.
This is not the first time display supplier information for the foldable iPhone has surfaced. Last week, Samsung Display president Lee Cheong stated that the company plans to supply foldable smartphone displays to a “North American client,” which is widely speculated to be Apple.
Foldable iPhone expected specifications
As per reports, the iPhone Fold will feature a 5.49-inch display on the outside and a 7.74-inch internal foldable screen. Measuring around 4.8mm in thickness when unfolded, it is said to be slimmer than the iPhone Air, which measures 5.6mm in thickness.

Under the hood, the iPhone Fold is expected to run on the next-generation Apple A20 chip. For photography, it may feature a pair of 48-megapixel cameras on the back and a 24-megapixel under-display camera for the internal screen. The front camera is likely to be accompanied by Face ID sensors.
Foldable iPhone expected launch timeframe
Apple is expected to announce the iPhone 18 series in September 2026, and it is speculated that its first foldable iPhone may debut alongside the iPhone 18 lineup. While pricing for the Indian market is not yet known, it is expected to cost around $2,000 (~Rs 1,77,540) in the US.
