Ubisoft has just confirmed that Assassin’s Creed Mirage will be getting a completely free story expansion later this year. It’s a fresh story chapter and includes multiple new missions for anyone still hooked on Basim’s journey.
A new story set in an ancient oasis city in Saudi Arabia
This update isn’t simply a fresh spin on the existing locations and missions, either. Instead, it will take players to 9th-century Al-Ula, an ancient oasis city in the heart of what is now Saudi Arabia. It’s a historic playground that hasn’t featured in the series before, packed with rock-cut monuments and mysterious ruins.
All of this is coming without so much as a microtransaction prompt or season pass, which feels almost unreal in 2025. Ubisoft also says that the DLC includes gameplay improvements for the base game and the new location.
Details on what exactly Basim will get up to in Al-Ula are still under wraps, but Ubisoft has promised more news as the launch draws closer.

Mirage itself first dropped back in October 2023, serving up an adventure that went back to Assassin’s Creed classic stealth and city-hopping gameplay style. Reviewers and players alike praised Mirage’s return to form. It was succeeded by Assassin’s Creed Shadows in March.
This fresh chapter arrives following reports that Ubisoft tapped investment from Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund to help bankroll extra Mirage content. The fund’s involvement is notable, considering its expanding footprint in the global games industry. But so far, Ubisoft has neither confirmed nor denied those reports.
