Asus ROG Ally gets better with new software update: Check details

The Asus ROG Ally launched in India earlier this year, making it one of the very few handheld gaming consoles you can get your hands on in India. With a number of games now supporting the handheld console, the brand has now released a new software update that brings some new changes for the handheld console. New perks include calibration support for the gyroscope, joysticks and more. Here’s every new addition.

How to get the new update on your Asus ROG Ally

The new software update comes via an update to the Armoury Crate SE (ACSE) software, a central controller software to set up various aspects of the console. The new ACSE version 1.4.5 as well as the microcontroller unit software version 316 brings the new features to the device.

What’s new?

Gyroscope support

The Asus ROG Ally has always had a built-in gyroscope, which can now be enabled and configured with the new update. This lets users move the console in their hands to control camera angle movement in shooting games, steering in racing games, etc. Configuration is also available on a per-game basis, so you can keep things super-sensitive for one title, and relaxed for another.

Joystick and trigger calibration

With the ability to calibrate the joysticks and triggers, Asus ROG Ally users will also be able to more accurately set up these input mechanisms to their liking and style of play.

CPU Boost toggle

A new option in the ACSE also allows users to now turn off the CPU Boost feature when it is not in use. This is great for when you are away from a charging source, and will allow the console to limit power to the CPU, and hence keep heat generation and battery utilisation at a minimum. This will also mean slightly reduced performance on some titles, but at least it will make your device last longer when you’re on the move.

To actually update your Asus ROG Ally, you can open up the Armoury Crate software, following which you should be able to see the alert for a new update. Follow on-screen instructions to get the update installed.
