Casio has just quietly dropped something on its UK store and its price tag is enough to make your eyes water. The new MRG-B2000KT-3A watch is currently listed for £6,200, which translates to approximately Rs 7,34,100.
That makes it the single most expensive model you can currently buy from the brand’s web shop over there. It originally launched in Japan earlier this month, but now it is finally making its way to other regions as well.
The MRG-B2000KT-3A is inspired by a Samurai sword
You might be wondering why this costs as much as a brand new car. Well, it is largely because Casio collaborated with a Japanese metalsmith named Kobayashi Masao to hand-engrave a phoenix motif right onto the bezel.
He used a traditional technique called Shishi-Aibori, which basically utilises just a hammer and chisel to carve the metal. And because of this intensely manual process, no two of these are exactly alike. The whole aesthetic is actually inspired by the “tsuba” – that is the guard on a Japanese sword which protects the hand.
The casing itself is made from recrystallised titanium that mimics the crystallised edge pattern seen on tempered blades. It also features a deep green DLC coating and a copper-toned brown AIP finish that gives it a properly ancient, hardened look.
There are even 4 actual emeralds sitting in the bezel screws to represent spiritual strength. It comes paired with a dark green Dura Soft rubber strap that is supposedly super durable and resistant to discolouration.

Underneath all that artistry, this is still a G-Shock. It packs Tough Solar charging, Multiband 6 radio control, and Bluetooth for connecting to the app. You get world time for over 300 cities, a stopwatch, and the usual durability you would expect. Measurements are 54.7 x 49.8 x 16.9 mm and the weight stands at 138g.
But good luck actually getting your hands on one. There are only 800 units being produced worldwide, and while we know it is landing in the UK within days, Casio hasn’t said how many of those are allocated there or if it will expand to any other regions.
