Oppo has started rolling out the March ColorOS 16 update, and while this is not one of those flashy software drops, it does bring a few genuinely handy tweaks you will probably end up using more than expected.
The update, version 16.0.5.701, first showed up on the Oppo Find X9 Pro and is now making its way to more devices, including the Find X9, Oppo Find X8 series, and the Oppo Reno 14 lineup. As usual, it is rolling out in stages, so if your phone has not got it yet, it is likely just fashionably late.
ColorOS 16 March update: Top features you should know about
Now that you know which devices are eligible for this March update, let’s dive into some of its best features. The biggest addition here is support for multiple timers at once, which sounds very minor until you actually need it.
Instead of replacing one timer every time you need another, you can now run several side by side. ColorOS also now shows the exact time each timer will end, which is a nice touch for people who prefer knowing “done at 7:42pm” rather than mentally counting forward from 18 minutes. There is also a quicker way to add another timer or bring back timers you use often.
Elsewhere, Oppo has slipped in some smaller but sensible upgrades. For instance, the Content Portal now works with app clones, so if you are the sort of person running two WhatsApps or two Instagrams for life admin reasons, sharing stuff across them should now be less annoying.

There is also a new option that lets you choose whether received files should open automatically, which is one of those tiny quality-of-life settings you never think about until a random file opens itself when you did not ask it to.
On the security side, Oppo has added a built-in virus scan that can spot and remove suspicious apps directly from the system. The update also includes the March 2026 security patch, which may not be exciting, but is definitely the bit you should care about most.
All told, this is a very classic mid-cycle phone update, with just a bunch of sensible improvements that make your phone usage experience more seamless. What are your thoughts? Drop them in the comments section below.
