Different types of portable ACs you can consider buying

Air conditioners are pretty much our best friends during the hot summer months, especially in a country with a tropical climate such as ours. And, of course, we wish we could enjoy air conditioning everywhere we go. While it may have seemed to be something straight out of science fiction until a few years ago, the same is very much real and very much here now. That’s right. We’re talking about portable air conditioners. These nifty appliances can help cool down any room without breaking the bank.

As with most other appliances though, with so many models available, how do you know which one to choose? In this article, we tell you about the different types of portable ACs you can consider purchasing.

Types of portable ACs

1. Single-hose portable AC

These are the most common type of portable ACs. They are easy to setup and can cool a room quickly. They work by drawing in warm air from the room, cooling it down using refrigerant, and then expelling the warm air and moisture through a single exhaust hose.

2. Dual-hose portable AC

These are similar to single-hose portable ACs, but they have two hoses instead of one. One hose draws in warm air from the room, and the other expels the hot air and moisture outside. Dual-hose portable ACs can be more efficient than single-hose models, as they don’t create negative pressure inside the room.

3. Window portable AC

These units are designed to fit in a window opening, and work by drawing in air from outside and cooling it down using refrigerant. They are typically more powerful than other portable ACs and can cool larger rooms. However, they are not as portable as other models and require a window space to be installed.

4. Evaporative portable AC

These units work by drawing in warm air from the room and passing it through a wet filter. The water in the filter evaporates, which cools down the air, and then the cooled air is blown back into the room. Evaporative portable ACs are more energy-efficient than other models, but they only work well in dry climates.

5. Personal portable AC

These are small, portable units designed to cool a smaller area, such as a desk or bed. They are ideal for use in a small bedroom or office cabin and are very energy efficient. However, they are not suitable for cooling large rooms.

What to consider when buying a portable AC

When planning to buy a portable AC, it is important to consider various factors such as the size of the room, the climate, and your budget. The capacity of portable ACs is mentioned in terms of tonne units. It is important to choose a portable AC with a higher tonne unit rating if you have a larger room.

The type of climate also plays an important role in deciding the capacity of the portable AC. If you live in a humid area, then it is advisable to go for a portable AC with a higher dehumidification capacity.

The key to buying a good portable AC is research. You need to understand what features you should look for and how much you are willing to spend. Additionally, read reviews from other customers before making your final purchase so that you get the best value for money. With this information in hand, you will be ready to make an informed decision about which portable AC is right for your home.
