DJI Neo 2 launched; packs big-league tricks into a tiny drone

DJI has unveiled the Neo 2, a 151-gram drone that leans hard into portability and ease of use without trimming away the fun. Think of it as DJI’s lightest omnidirectional-sensing flyer that’s built for everyday creators who want quick shots, smooth video and simple controls rather than a full professional setup. Here’s everything you need to know about this tiny wonder that’s perfect for amateur creators.

DJI Neo 2: Smarter flying in a tiny frame

The DJI Neo 2’s design keeps things friendly too, with a small display beside the camera and a lift-off flow that literally starts from your palm. When you’re done, it glides right back into your hand with Return to Palm, turning takeoff and landing into something you can do without even bending down.

Gesture control is another one of the Neo 2’s headline tricks. Holding up a palm lets you move the drone side to side or adjust altitude. Raise both palms, and it glides closer or farther away, while the camera angle can be tweaked without touching a controller. Voice commands work through your phone or Bluetooth headphones, and those who prefer a classic setup can pair it with the DJI RC N3 controller for up to 10km of video transmission.

The Neo 2 also plays well with DJI’s motion controller and goggles for an FPV-style experience. Its 12MP 1/2-inch CMOS sensor with an f/2.2 aperture sits on a new 2-axis gimbal that keeps 4K footage steady at up to 100fps. Vertical shooters get 2.7K clips for social-ready posts.

Features like ActiveTrack and SelfieShot return with smarter framing, switching between waist-up, full-body and long shots on their own. In open areas, the drone can track subjects at speeds of up to 12m/s and follow in eight directions, including diagonals!

DJI has also packed in the usual crowd-pleasers like Dolly Zoom, QuickShots and MasterShots, complete with familiar presets such as Dronie, Circle, Rocket, Spotlight, Helix and Boomerang.

For newcomers, omnidirectional monocular vision, forward LiDAR and downward infrared sensors keep the drone aware of obstacles. Built-in propeller guards add an extra layer of protection. Hovering and positioning have been tuned for indoor flying and tight spaces near buildings or water.

The drone promises level 5 wind resistance, 19 minutes of flight time and 49GB of internal storage. Footage transfers to the DJI Fly app hit up to 80MB/s over Wi-Fi.

DJI Neo 2: Price and availability

The DJI Neo 2 starts at €239 (around Rs 24,600). The Fly More Combo (drone only) is priced at €329 (approx. Rs 33,900), the full Fly More Combo comes in at €399 (approx. Rs 41,200), and the Motion Fly More Combo sits at €579 (nearly Rs 60,000).

All in all, the Neo 2 keeps things fun and foolproof, giving everyday creators pro-style shots without the bulk or the learning curve. Drop your thoughts in the comments below, and stay tuned to Unboxed by Croma for the latest tech updates.
