Samsung’s Galaxy Ultra models have always had impressive cameras. The 200MP sensor onboard offers great shots in daylight, but at nighttime, it can surely be improved.
That’s probably exactly what the folks at Samsung thought, and as per new reports, the upcoming Galaxy S26 Ultra may feature a wider aperture for improved low-light photography. Sounds good? Here’s all you need to know.
What to expect from Galaxy S26 Ultra's cameras?
Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy Ultra phone, likely called the Galaxy S26 Ultra, may offer an improved experience in low-light photography. The device could feature the same 200MP main camera as the predecessor, but have a wider aperture.
The main camera could have an f/1.4 aperture, as opposed to the f/1.7 aperture on the predecessor. The new aperture range is expected to offer 47 per cent more light into the sensor, making low-light photography noticeably better.
Images could appear cleaner, with reduced noise and more natural depth in portrait shots. It would also help the sensor capture more dynamic range in darker settings without needing a larger sensor.
Samsung seems to be focusing on meaningful improvements to everyday photography instead of just pushing megapixel numbers this time. In the previous report, we also learned that Samsung may use a slightly bigger sensor that’s close to 1-inch.
While the main camera is getting upgraded, there’s still no detail on whether the telephoto sensors will get any hardware upgrade. Although a report suggested a couple of improvements, there are no exact details yet.

Details about the ultra-wide camera are also unknown, but we expect to learn more in the coming months. What we know, however, is that Samsung would possibly do some software tuning to improve the final results, which is something that most smartphone makers do, including Apple.
