Google launched the Pixel 10a globally yesterday. The company has also scheduled its annual I/O Developer conference in May. Now, the tech giant has introduced music generation capabilities to its Gemini app. It uses Google DeepMind’s latest generative music model called Lyria 3. Google says that this feature is a lightweight, creative companion rather than professional music replacement.
Google adds AI-generation music to Gemini app
With the Lyria 3 model, Gemini can now generate 30-second tracks based on your prompts. It can also take inspiration from the uploaded photo or video content to compose a track that fits the mood perfectly. Lyrics will also be automatically generated. The model offers creative control over elements like genre, mood, style, vocals, tempo, etc. It also creates custom cover art generated by Nano Banana.
Google says that this model and feature isn’t design to create a musical masterpiece but to give you a fun, unique way to express yourself. The generated track can be downloaded or simply shared via link with friends.

Music creation in Gemini app currently supports English, German, Spanish, French, Hindi, Japanese, Korean, and Portuguese. It is rolling out in beta version for both free and paid Gemini users aged 18 and above. Google AI Plus, Pro, and Ultra subscribers receive higher usage limits compared to free users.
Google adds that it is mindful of copyrighted tracks. All tracks generated in the AI model will have a SynthID for identifying AI-generated content. If any artist is mentioned in the prompt, Gemini will take it as a broad creative inspiration and create a track that has similar mood and style. There are filters in place to check outputs against existing content. Users can upload and file and ask if it was generated using Google AI.
