Google Pixel 10a launches with minor but meaningful upgrades

Google has unveiled the Pixel 10a, the most affordable phone in the Pixel 10 series. When it comes to specs and design, the 10a borrows a lot from the Pixel 9a, which debuted last year. Nevertheless, it still offers a couple of upgrades that help deliver an enhanced user experience.

Google Pixel 10a: Specs and features

Starting from the front, the Google Pixel 10a has a 6.3-inch OLED panel that offers an FHD+ resolution, a 120Hz refresh rate, and a peak brightness of 2,700 nits. While the Pixel 9a came with Gorilla Glass 3 protection for the display, the 10a features the newer Gorilla Glass 7i display shield.

Under the hood, the Pixel 10a has the Tensor G4 chip accompanied by LPDDR5x RAM, UFS 3.1 storage, and a 5,100mAh battery. Instead of 23W wired charging and 7.5W wireless charging, the new device offers upgraded 30W wired and 10W wireless charging support. For security, it features an in-display fingerprint sensor and the Titan M2 security chip.

For optics, the Pixel 10a has an OIS-enabled 48MP main camera and a 13MP ultra-wide lens. It also features a 13MP camera for selfies and video calls.

The Pixel 10a runs on the stock version of Android 16 and is promised to receive up to seven years of OS and security updates. It will also receive Google’s Pixel Drop feature updates.

Connectivity has been upgraded to Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6.0, and satellite SOS (US only), along with the usual eSIM, NFC, and USB-C (Gen 3.2) support. Finally, it comes with an IP68-rated dust and water resistance and an aluminium frame for added durability.

Google Pixel 10a: Price and availability

The Pixel 10a has arrived in a single 256GB trim priced at Rs 49,999. In comparison, the 256GB Pixel 9a was priced at Rs 56,999 at launch.

The 10a is scheduled to go on sale starting March 6 in shades such as Lavender, Berry, Fog, and Obsidian. Buyers can avail of offers like 24-month no-cost EMI, up to Rs 3,000 exchange bonus, and up to Rs 3,000 cashback on select HDFC Bank cards.
