Ghosts, swords, and samurai vibes coming to PS5 this October with Ghost of Yōtei

It's about to get spooky

Ghosts, swords, and samurai vibes coming to PS5 this October with Ghost of Yōtei

Some games arrive quietly. Others show up like a whisper of steel in the dark. Clean, fast, and impossible to ignore. Ghost of Yōtei, the latest hauntingly stylish action title from studio Sanzaru Games, is doing the latter.

Set to arrive on PlayStation 5 this October 2, the game looks like it time-travelled from a fever dream of feudal Japan, dipped in neon and shadow. It’s part ghost story, part sword-swinging thriller, and if early peeks are anything to go by, all heart-pounding, button-mashing goodness.

What’s in store for you?

You play as a lone warrior navigating a mystic island overrun by vengeful spirits. Something like Sekiro meets Ghost of Tsushima, but with a distinct edge. Less brooding samurai, more ethereal ninja with a score to settle and otherworldly powers to boot.

The gameplay is all about precision and patience. One misstep and you’re toast. But get it right, and you’ll feel like a cinematic assassin dancing through moonlit chaos.

One of the biggest standouts of this game is the way Ghost of Yōtei leans into the Sony DualSense’s capabilities. From adaptive trigger sword swings that feel like a real katana slicing through mist, to 3D audio that puts ghostly whispers directly behind your ear. This game stands apart from other ports that we have seen in the past. It is more of a spiritual successor that improves on what it was, by making use of what there is.

And maybe that’s the whole point. Ghost of Yōtei isn’t just about slicing through the undead. It’s about slipping into a legend and making it your own.

So mark your calendar, sharpen your digital blade, and maybe light a candle, just in case. Because come October, the spirits of Yōtei aren’t just coming. They’re coming for you.
