Google, for years, kept things simple when it comes to its logo designs. The ‘G’ on the Google app, for instance, has a simple flat look, making it easily noticeable while scrolling through a bunch of different apps. The app has had the same look for years, and we all dig it.
Now, however, Google has updated the app logo, giving it a fancier look. The latest logo design of the Google app is a subtle change, but it could be a part of the brand’s strategy change ahead of Google I/O 2025.
What the new Google app logo means?
The Google app’s latest logo still has a mix of four colours. This includes red, yellow, green, and blue shades. However, these colours are now all in gradients instead of solids. This gradient design is reminiscent of the Gemini app’s look, which features a vibrant gradient shade.

Notably, Google’s last major change to its logo was in 2015, when it shifted to the sans-serif typeface. The latest ‘G’ logo update comes ahead of the Google I/O event set for May 20, which hints that Google might have special plans for I/O this time around.
The new G logo of Google is visible on mobile apps available for Android phones and iPhones. However, Google hasn’t yet revealed what the redesign means. But it could be a part of its broader redesign phase, or perhaps some strategy change, which we’d get to know soon.
Until then, what do you think about the new design of the Google app? Do let us know your thoughts in the comments below.
