Google unveils Pixel 10 series with all new Tensor G5 chipset

New Pixel phones lean hard on Gemini AI, better cameras, and wireless charging tricks

Google unveils Pixel 10 series with all new Tensor G5 chipset

Google just pulled the curtain back on the Pixel 10 lineup, a family of phones that come packed with shiny new AI tricks, bigger batteries, and a long-awaited move to Qi2 wireless charging.

The new series includes the Pixel 10, Pixel 10 Pro, Pixel 10 Pro XL, and the big foldable Pixel 10 Pro Fold. Prices in India remain the same as last year’s Pixel 9 series, which is a rare win for our wallets.

AI is the headline here. Google is baking its Gemini assistant deeper into these devices, with features like Magic Cue, which can pre-emptively fetch useful info depending on what you’re doing, and Camera Coach, a photo assistant that gives you real-time tips on nailing the perfect shot. There’s also Gemini Live, which can chat with you about whatever is on your screen in real time.

Pixel 10: The “starter pack” Pixel

The regular Pixel 10 is the most affordable of the bunch at Rs 79,999, with a single 12GB RAM and 256GB storage variant. It comes in Indigo Frost, Lemongrass, and Obsidian colours.

On the outside, it looks familiar, but under the hood there’s a major upgrade: the new Tensor G5 chip, the first Google silicon made by TSMC. It promises faster performance, especially for on-device AI, which is the real theme of this release.

Photography fans may feel a little short-changed, though. Instead of sharing the Pro’s 50MP sensor, the Pixel 10 borrows a smaller 48MP sensor from the budget 9A. The good news is you finally get a proper telephoto lens with 5x zoom, even if it’s not quite Pro-level. At least the battery has grown to 4,970mAh, which should keep it going longer than last year’s Pixel 9.

Pixel 10 Pro: The all-rounder

At Rs 1,09,999, the Pixel 10 Pro is Google’s sweet spot between fancy and affordable. It packs 16GB of RAM, 256GB storage, and comes in Moonstone, Jade, Porcelain, and Obsidian colours.

The 50MP main sensor is back here, alongside a bigger ultrawide and telephoto setup, which should deliver the kind of photography chops Pixel fans brag about.

The Pro also showcases Google’s more ambitious AI camera features. You can push zoom way past 30x, and a diffusion AI model will clean up the image afterwards, turning what would normally look like digital mush into something usable.

Pixel 10 Pro XL: Big screen, big battery

The Pro XL starts at Rs 1,24,999, with the same RAM and storage as the Pro but a much larger body. Additionally, it also packs the same Tensor G5 chipset and cameras as the Pro.

The colours are nearly identical, minus Porcelain. The 5,200mAh battery is the biggest of the bunch, and it’s the only Pixel this year to support the fastest Qi2.2 wireless charging at 25W.
