Huawei Mate XTs tri-fold phone announced with a large battery, upgraded processor

Huawei has never shied away from treating its foldable phones as objets d’art, and the new Mate XTs leans fully into that philosophy. Available in black, red, purple and white, the device is styled more like a couture accessory than a slab of glass and aluminium.

But it isn’t just about aesthetics alone, the Huawei Mate XTs also improves in key areas compared to its predecessor. Here’s everything you need to know about Huawei’s second iteration of its tri-fold series.

Huawei Mate XTs: Specs and features

The Mate XTs isn’t all looks. It’s a tri-fold OLED LTPO wonder that stretches to 10.2 inches with crisp 3K resolution, adaptive refresh rates, 1440Hz PWM dimming and 240Hz touch sampling. Fold it once, and you’ve got a 7.9-inch dual mode screen; collapse it further to a compact 6.4-inch panel for easy one-hand use.

Powering the device is Huawei’s new and upgraded Kirin 9020 chip running on HarmonyOS 5.1. You get 16GB of RAM across all variants, paired with 256GB, 512GB or 1TB of storage. A 5,600mAh silicon-anode battery keeps the show running. For charging, you get 66 W wired charging, 50 W wireless, and even 7.5 W reverse wireless for topping up earbuds on the fly.

Photography is handled by a triple camera system that includes a 50MP primary shooter, a 40MP ultrawide sensor, and a 12MP periscope telephoto with 5.5× optical zoom and OIS. Up front, there’s an 8 MP selfie shooter. Stylus support also makes the cut, with Huawei’s M-Pen 3 doubling as both sketching tool and presentation remote.

For all that muscle, Huawei has kept the body surprisingly sleek. At just 3.6 mm unfolded and about 298 g in weight, it almost dares you to forget it’s a triple-folding smartphone.

Huawei Mate XTs: Price and availability

The entry-level model with 16GB RAM and 256GB storage starts at CNY 17,999 (around Rs 2,22,406). Step up to 512GB and you’re looking at CNY 19,999 (around Rs 2,47,119), while the range-topper with 1TB storage reaches a whopping CNY 21,999 (around Rs 2,71,832). That makes the Mate XTs one of the priciest pieces of pocket tech you can buy today.
