When Xiaomi rolled out HyperOS 3, it marked a clean break from MIUI and a serious rethink of how its software should look, move, and connect across devices. Now HyperOS 3.1 is arriving in phased batches, and while it does not rewrite the rulebook, it fixes some of the things that matter most in daily use.
Built on Android 16, HyperOS 3 already brought a refreshed visual language, smoother animations, and a heavier focus on on-device AI features such as writing assistance and transcription.

HyperOS 3.1 is all about refinement. Xiaomi says the majority of eligible devices are already on HyperOS 3, and this follow-up update is designed to make that experience faster, cleaner, and more stable.
What HyperOS 3.1 actually changes: New features, fixes, and more
The headline addition is Super OTA, a new update mechanism that shortens installation times and reduces the number of full system reboots. It is not glamorous, but anyone who has stared at a progress bar for 20 minutes will appreciate it.
Beyond that, Xiaomi has smoothed out core UI interactions, refreshed system apps like Gallery and Weather, and expanded lock screen customisation. HyperIsland (Xiaomi’s version of Apple’s Dynamic Island) also becomes more interactive, with better support for live system activities.
There is a notable push toward broader ecosystem compatibility too. HyperOS 3.1 improves cross-platform behaviour, including native support for Apple AirPods with quick pairing pop-ups and spatial audio controls on supported models. Accessibility menus have been reorganised, and some devices gain new quick gesture shortcuts for faster navigation.
Under the hood, memory management tweaks and animation tuning aim to reduce stutters and improve app launch consistency. It is the kind of update you feel more than you see, which is usually a good sign.
