Apple’s iOS 26 was first announced back in June at the WWDC event, and since then, we have all been waiting for its stable release. While we received quite a few beta updates, including the public beta, the stable update is yet to arrive. But with Apple’s Awe Dropping event on the horizon, we expect iOS 26’s release to be imminent.
So, when’s iOS 26 coming to your iPhone? And is your iPhone eligible? Let’s find answers to all these questions in this story.
iOS 26 release date and eligibility list
Apple’s iOS 26 is now in the public beta stage, but once the new iPhones are released on September 9, we can expect the stable version of the OS to be available for all eligible models.
For the unversed, Apple will launch the upcoming iPhones, likely called the iPhone 17, with iOS 26 out of the box. So, other models, including the existing iPhone 16 lineup, should get the stable update starting this week itself.
Here are all the iPhones eligible to get the iOS 26 stable version.
– iPhone 16e, iPhone 16/Plus, iPhone 16 Pro/Pro Max
– iPhone 15/Plus, iPhone 15 Pro/Pro Max
– iPhone 14/Plus, iPhone 14 Pro/Pro Max
– iPhone 13/Mini, iPhone 13 Pro/Pro Max
– iPhone 12/Mini, iPhone 12 Pro/Pro Max
– iPhone 11, iPhone 11 Pro/Pro Max
– iPhone SE (2nd gen and newer)
Apart from these, older iPhones will miss out on the new update.
iOS 26 features and highlights
iOS 26’s major highlight is the revamped design, thanks to the Liquid Glass interface. Apple has added translucent and fluid elements throughout the UI. The latest changes make the iOS feel more premium and surprisingly faster.
The Siri in iOS 26 is smarter, with features like Context awareness and on-screen integration. Users also get new call features like call screening, Live voicemail, and more. It also brings optimised Game Mode and adds a bunch of Accessibility features.
