Earlier this month, Apple unveiled a couple of new devices, including the 8th generation iPad Air equipped with the M4 chip. There has been some chatter that the brand is working on the iPad 12 (also known as iPad 2026). An earlier report claimed that it could be powered by the Apple A19 chip. However, a new report by Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman reveals a different chip.
iPad 12 key specifications tipped
The report reveals that the entry-level iPad 12 will be powered by the Apple A18. The inclusion of the chip will bring support for Apple Intelligence.
In comparison, the iPad 11, which debuted in March 2025, came equipped with the Apple A16 chip. Apart from the inclusion of A18, the iPad 12 is not expected to bring any major improvements compared to the previous generation.
However, there’s a possibility that the 12th generation iPad may arrive with a C1 modem and N1 networking chip for an enhanced connectivity experience over 5G and Wi-Fi. The design of the iPad 2026 could remain identical to the previous generation.
iPad 12 launch timeframe (rumoured)
Gurman hints that the iPad 12 could be announced in the first half of this year. It is expected to align its unveiling with the arrival of iOS 26.4. This indicates that the iPad 12 may debut in April or May.
To recall, the iPad 2025 came in 128GB, 256GB, and 512GB variants priced at Rs 34,900, Rs 44,900, and Rs 64,900, respectively. Going by the industry-wide price rise trend, the iPad 2026 may arrive in India with a sub-Rs 40,000 starting price.
