Alongside the launch of the iPhone 17e, Apple has also introduced the iPad Air (8th gen) today. It replaces last year’s iPad Air (7th gen). The newest tablet brings some changes under the hood that result in performance gains.
iPad Air (8th Gen) key features, specifications
The Apple iPad Air (8th Gen) comes in 11 and 13-inch variants with Liquid Retina display and an integrated Touch ID in the power button. The 12MP Centre Stage camera is placed on the right bezel when held in a landscape orientation. The tablet is equipped with dual mics and stereo speakers.
Internally, the iPad Air (8th Gen) is powered by M4 chipset that comprises of an 8-core CPU and 9-core GPU. Apple says that this brings performance increases of up to 30 per cent over the predecessor model.
It also supports hardware-accelerated mesh shading and ray tracing for graphics performance. Unified memory is reported to have jumped 50 per cent to 12GB. There is a 16-core neural engine to accelerate on-device AI capabilities. The tablet packs 12GB RAM onboard and up to 1TB storage.

Apple has also introduced its latest silicon N1 wireless chip and C1X cellular model on the iPad Air (8th Gen). The former enables Wi-Fi-7, Bluetooth 6, and Thread support meanwhile the later supports 5G, eSIM functionality, and integrated GPS.
The iPad Air (8th Gen) runs iPadOS 26 out of the box. It has 12MP rear camera and is compatible with Apple Pencil Pro and Magic Keyboard.
iPad Air (8th Gen) pricing and availability
The iPad Air (8th Gen) starts at Rs 64,900 for the 128GB Wi-Fi-only variant, whereas the cellular version costs Rs 79,900 for the 11-inch model. The same connectivity options of the 13-inch variant are priced at Rs 84,900 and 99,900 respectively.
