It has been over a year since the iPhone 16 hit the shelves. While the world has largely moved on to the flashy sequel, the 2024 non-Pro model is still an excellent deal. Especially now, since it’s being made available for lower-than-usual price.
If you head over to Croma, the 128GB base model is currently listed at Rs 66,990. That is a decent drop from its original Rs 79,900 launch tag, but don’t spend just yet. A hidden discount is buried in the payment options that shaves off another chunk of change.
A breakdown of the bank offers
You can avail of further discounts if you hold a credit card from ICICI, IDFC, or SBI. A straight swipe with these cards knocks Rs 3,000 off the top. Better yet, opting for an EMI plan with those same banks slashes the price by Rs 4,000. That brings the final cart value down to Rs 62,990.
As for why you’d want to buy a 2024 phone now besides, well, there’s plenty of reasons besides the price. For starters, the A18 chip inside is still a beast. It was built to handle Apple Intelligence – that suite of AI features like writing tools and image generation – and does so without breaking a sweat.

The iPhone 16 also sports a refreshed design compared to the iPhone 15, and it’s remained unchanged even with the latest iPhone 17.
Then there is the Camera Control. It is a touch-sensitive button on the side that mimics a DSLR shutter. You press it to focus and snap. It feels tactile and mechanical in a way touchscreens never do. A 48-megapixel Fusion camera is paired with it. The battery life is solid too, easily surviving a day of doom-scrolling.
