CES 2026: LG Gram laptops get smarter and tougher

At the upcoming CES 2026, LG will preview its 2026 LG Gram laptop range, outlining how the brand plans to evolve its ultra-portable notebooks. The announcement hints at material innovation, smarter AI support and tighter device connectivity, setting the tone for what follows across the lineup.

2026 LG Gram lineup: Lighter builds meet improved durability

A key change across the 2026 LG Gram family is the introduction of Aerominum, a newly developed magnesium and aluminium alloy inspired by aerospace use. The material allows LG to keep weights low while improving structural strength and surface durability.

According to the company, scratch resistance is significantly improved compared to earlier generations, while the chassis continues to meet US military-grade reliability tests. The refined metallic finish adds a premium feel without increasing thickness, and LG notes that even the 16-inch gram Pro remains close to the 1.2 kg mark, underlining the focus on mobility.

Dual AI, connectivity and flagship models

Select 2026 models introduce a dual AI setup that combines on-device intelligence with cloud-based tools. On-device processing is handled by LG’s Exaone 3.5 small language model, enabling offline tasks such as document summarisation, search and contextual assistance. Support for Microsoft Copilot+ PCs adds features like live subtitle translation and AI image creation when connected online.

Connectivity also sees a practical upgrade through gram Link, which now works across Android, iOS and webOS devices. This allows seamless file sharing, screen mirroring and extended displays with compatible LG TVs, monitors and projectors, making multi-device workflows simpler. Security is addressed via LG ThinQ, enabling remote locking or data erasure if a laptop is lost.

Within the lineup, the LG Gram Pro 17 stands out as a North America exclusive, pairing a 17-inch WQXGA display with an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5050 laptop GPU and 8GB GDDR7 memory in a compact chassis.

The Gram Pro 16, offered with Intel Core Ultra or AMD Ryzen AI 400 series processors, features a 16-inch WQXGA+ OLED panel and a 77Wh battery rated for long video playback. LG plans to begin the rollout in South Korea from January 6, with other regions to follow.
