Logitech’s new MX Master 4 mouse supports haptics

The reign of the MX Master 3 has felt endless. It has been the default premium recommendation for basically anyone with a desk job since 2019. It did receive an upgrade in the form of the MX Master 3s but it was more of a tweak.

But Logitech has finally decided to mess with perfection – and in a good way! The company just pulled the wraps off the MX Master 4, and while it looks familiar, the insides have been completely overhauled.

A new flagship mouse from the brand

The biggest addition is something usually reserved for gaming controllers. They have added haptic feedback, so now you get subtle vibrations when you scroll, navigate, or make selections. It is designed to give you a physical sense of your digital work.

On the software side, there is a new trick called the Actions Ring. It is a digital overlay that pops up on your screen via the Logi Options+ app. This lets you pin your most-used shortcuts right where your cursor is. Logitech claims repetitive movements are reduced by 63% when you lean into this workflow.

Connectivity has been doubled in strength compared to the previous generation. This boost is powered by a new high-performance chip and some optimised antenna placement. It pairs via a new USB-C dongle or Bluetooth, and switching between three different devices is still seamless.

The specs sheet looks solid too. The MagSpeed Scroll Wheel returns to let you fly through 1,000 lines per second. The optical sensor hits 8,000 DPI, which is just a fancy way of saying the sensitivity is high enough to track smoothly on glass surfaces. Plus, the click noise has been dampened by 90%.

Finally, the mouse is constructed using significant amounts of post-consumer recycled plastic—48% in the Graphite model—and the battery features 100% recycled cobalt.
