Microsoft is officially bringing its legendary Flight Simulator 2024 game to the PlayStation 5. Announced during the PlayStation State of Play event, the hyper-realistic sim is scheduled to touch down on PS5 and PS5 Pro on December 8.
This marks the first time the 40-year-old franchise has ever appeared on a PlayStation console.
A massive fleet of aircraft and DualSense controller support
It’s a complete experience too. PlayStation pilots will have access to a massive fleet of up to 125 different aircrafts. You can fly everything from nimble ultralights and helicopters to massive commercial airliners and military transport jets.
Microsoft’s game lets you explore the entire globe, featuring over 40,000 airports and 60,000 helipads, complete with accurate, real-time air traffic.
Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 also has a career mode that lets you build a reputation by taking on specialised missions like aerial firefighting, search and rescue, and even agricultural aviation.

Some Sony-specific optimisations are onboard as well. The DualSense controller’s adaptive triggers will change resistance based on different ground surfaces and speeds and will even simulate aerodynamic forces in the air.
Air traffic control communications will play directly through the controller’s built-in speaker, mimicking the crackle of a real cockpit headset. The game will also support the controller’s gyro controls, lightbar, and customisable touchpad for deeper immersion.
Moreover, a free update is set to bring full PS VR2 support in 2026, letting you experience the entire game in virtual reality. For now, players can get some sweet pre-order bonuses.
Booking any edition gets you the Northrop T38-A Talon jet at launch. If you go for the Deluxe, Premium Deluxe, or Aviator Editions, you get to start flying early on December 3. Finally, PlayStation players will also receive the same free World and Sim updates as their Xbox and PC counterparts.
