Microsoft releases Bing Video Creator to turn words into AI-generated videos

What if search wasn’t just about finding answers, but creating them? With the launch of Bing Video Creator, Microsoft is expanding the role of generative AI in everyday discovery, enabling users to translate simple text prompts into short, stylised videos, all for free.

Building on the momentum of Bing Image Creator and the recent Copilot Search upgrade, Bing Video Creator reflects a deeper ambition, which is to make creativity as accessible as curiosity. Whether you’re illustrating an idea, capturing a fleeting moment, or exploring visual storytelling, the tool brings AI video generation to the fingertips of anyone with a thought and a few words to spare.

That’s quite the leap forward

If you’ve been tracking AI evolution in the consumer space, this is a notable development. With Bing Video Creator, users can open the Bing mobile app, describe any scene they want to see, say, “a tiny otter chef making pizza in an Italian restaurant”, and receive a 5-second AI-generated video in 9:16 format (with 16:9 support coming soon). The tool is now available globally (excluding China and Russia), and is set to expand to desktop and Copilot Search experiences in the coming weeks.

Microsoft is positioning Bing Video Creator as a tool to democratise video production. Whether you want to commemorate special moments, spice up conversations with playful clips, or test visual directions for creative brainstorming, the tool offers a unique space to do so. Users start with 10 Fast generations and can continue at standard speed, or redeem Microsoft Rewards points to access additional Fast creations.

To prevent misuse, Bing Video Creator integrates OpenAI’s Sora safeguards along with Microsoft’s Responsible AI practices. Harmful prompts are blocked, and all generated videos come with C2PA-based content credentials for authenticity and transparency.

All things considered, Bing Video Creator adds a new dimension to Microsoft’s AI-driven ecosystem, expanding its focus from finding information to bringing your imagination to life, with just a few words.
