April is usually a quieter month for games, but there’s still plenty worth paying attention to. This month might not be stacked with blockbuster or high-profile launches, but there’s more than enough here to keep things interesting.
The biggest of the lot is Saros, Housemarque’s next PlayStation exclusive and a spiritual successor to Returnal, launching on April 30 with a new sci-fi setting and a tighter, more progression-focused roguelike loop. It’s not the only notable release, either.
Bethesda’s Starfield finally makes its way to PS5, opening up the Settled Systems to a whole new audience alongside a major free update and a brand-new story expansion. Invincible VS also lands later in the month, bringing the chaotic, over-the-top energy of the Invincible universe into a fast-paced 3v3 tag fighter, complete with a cinematic story mode and a roster pulled straight from the show.

If that wasn’t enough, Pragmata is making its long-awaited debut as well, and it already looks like one of the more interesting sci-fi shooters in a while. There’s more here than the month’s reputation suggests, so here are all the games releasing this April.
Top video game releases for April 2026
Here are some of the top new video games releasing in April 2026:
– He-Man and the Masters of the Universe
– I Am Jesus Christ
– Invincible VS
– Mouse: P.I. For Hire
– Pragmata
– Saros
He-Man and the Masters of the Universe
Eternia is calling, and He-Man and the Masters of the Universe: The Dragon Pearl of Destruction marks a fast, colourful return to classic brawler action.
The story is structured like a Saturday-morning episode, with Skeletor attacking during the Royal Festival, kidnapping the king and queen, and corrupting the Dragon Pearl, sending the heroes across Eternia to recover its scattered pieces.
You’ll play as He-Man, Teela, Man-At-Arms, and She-Ra, each with distinct abilities, from heavy-hitting attacks to faster, combo-focused moves. Combat takes place across side-scrolling stages packed with enemies, where you can chain combos, use special attacks, and play to each character’s strengths.
He-Man and the Masters of the Universe: The Dragon Pearl of Destruction launches on April 28 for PC, Nintendo Switch, PS5, and Xbox Series X and S.
I Am Jesus Christ
Playing as the Messiah probably wasn’t on anyone’s bingo card, which makes I Am Jesus Christ one of the more unusual releases this month. Billed as a first-person retelling of the New Testament, the game follows some of the most important moments from baptism to resurrection, placing you in locations like Jerusalem and Galilee. Along the way, you’ll meet over 60 characters, including the disciples, and take part in events such as the Last Supper.
The game lets you perform more than 30 miracles, from healing the sick and feeding crowds to calming storms, with prayer acting as the way you recharge abilities and progress through the story.
I Am Jesus Christ launches on April 2 for PC.
Invincible VS
After years of watching its brutal, no-holds-barred fights play out on screen, Invincible VS finally turns that chaos into a full fighting game. The game is built as a 3v3 tag-team brawler, where you can switch characters mid-fight to keep combos going, call in assists, or trigger counter tags when you need breathing room. The roster brings together well-known faces like Invincible, Omni-Man, and Atom Eve and a few new additions from across the series.
There’s also a cinematic story mode that feels like a lost episode, so you don’t need deep knowledge of the show to follow along. The game also features ranked online matches and rollback netcode, alongside a combo system that gradually opens up as you experiment.
Invincible VS launches on April 30 for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
Mouse: P.I. For Hire
Black-and-white cartoons and first-person shooters don’t usually go together, but Mouse: P.I. For Hire makes it work in a way that’s hard to ignore. You play as Jack Pepper, a hardboiled detective pulled into a messy case involving corruption, kidnappings, and something much bigger lurking underneath Mouseburg.
The setup draws from classic noir and the gameplay drives the action forward, with wall-running, grappling, and double jumps, while combat will throw constant waves of enemies at you from all sides. Weapons range from Tommy guns to more absurd, cartoonish armaments, all animated in the 1930s rubber-hose style.
Mouse: P.I. For Hire launches on April 16 for PC, PS5, Xbox Series X and S, and Nintendo Switch 2.
Pragmata
After years of trailers and delays, Pragmata finally shows what it’s been building toward, and it lands as something more unusual in this month’s lineup. Set on a fractured space station, the story follows Hugh and an android girl named Diana as they try to uncover what went wrong and find a way back to Earth.
Gameplay-wise, you’re split between controlling Hugh’s movement and shooting while Diana works in real time to hack enemy defenses. Between the upgrade hub, puzzle-like level design, and a combat loop that will push you to multitask under pressure, there’s plenty happening at once.
Pragmata launches on April 17 for PS5, Xbox Series X and S, PC, and Nintendo Switch 2.
Saros
Saros takes Housemarque’s signature loop-based action in a more flexible direction, with a stronger emphasis on progression and player control. You step into the role of Arjun Devraj, a Soltari enforcer trapped on the ever-changing planet of Carcosa, where each death resets the environment but gradually uncovers more of its mystery.
Combat is fast and deliberate, asking you to absorb incoming projectiles with your shield and convert them into powerful counterattacks instead of relying purely on evasive movement. Each run feeds into permanent upgrades, so even failed attempts carry you forward.
Saros launches on April 30 for PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 5 Pro.
