New video games in December 2025 to look out for

December 2025 is here and somehow, we’ve managed to zip through yet another year. The final month is usually a slower stretch for new releases, and it’s no different this time around. Alongside the already announced PS Plus games releasing this month, a few heavyweight titles are closing out the year with real momentum.

Metroid Prime 4: Beyond finally has a firm December 4 launch date, ending an eight-year wait. The game brings back classic Prime-style exploration and shootouts, introduces new psychic abilities for Samus, and debuts alongside a Switch 2 Edition that offers sharper performance and mouse-style controls for more precise aiming.

On the other side of the genre spectrum, Marvel Cosmic Invasion serves up a completely different kind of energy. Tribute Games and Dotemu are back in familiar territory and the game promises tight combat, a fun mix of characters, strong tag-team mechanics, and that familiar arcade energy the studio handles so well. So here are all the games releasing this December.

Blood: Refreshed Supply

Blood: Refreshed Supply brings Monolith’s cult 1997 shooter back for 2025, complete with a full modern remaster and a new surge of grisly flair. Nightdive Studios has rebuilt the game from its original source code, adding 4K support, unlocked frame rates, improved enemy behaviour, weather effects, and remastered cutscenes. The story follows Caleb, an undead gunslinger who rises from the grave after being betrayed by his demonic master Tchernobog.

His quest for revenge drives the game’s campaign, which comes packed with 42 carnage-heavy levels and creative weapons. Refreshed Supply features the original campaign, Plasma Pak and Cryptic Passage, plus a new scenario, Marrow, with Death Wish arriving post-launch. Multiplayer has also gotten a major boost with rewritten netcode, eight-player online co-op, and local split-screen.

Blood: Refreshed Supply launches December 4 for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and Nintendo Switch.

Elden Ring Nightreign DLC

Elden Ring: Nightreign expands on the scale of the original game while making the experience more immediate and team-oriented. Instead of wandering a massive open world at your own speed, you’re dropped into Limveld, a region trapped in a three-day cycle where the Nightlord’s corruption grows stronger the longer you stay. Each run gets harder, so you’re constantly deciding how far to push before the world resets.

You can pick from eight Nightfarers, each with defined abilities and combat roles that influence how a squad approaches exploration and boss hunts. The progression moves quickly as you’ll need to scout corrupted areas, craft stronger gear, and take down priority targets before the final showdown resets the world. The combat is what you’d expect from an Elden Ring game and is precise, weighty, and punishing; however, it now relies heavily on teamwork, shared tools, and a streamlined revival system.

Elden Ring: Nightreign launches December 4, 2025, for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S.

Let It Die Inferno

Let It Die: Inferno continues the series’ bizarre, high-pressure premise, but this time the stakes feel more defined. Set after the Earth Rage disaster, the world is thrown into new chaos when the Hell Gate tears open, revealing an enormous pit filled with warped floors, hybrid monsters, and shifting environments that never play the same way twice.

You play as an immortal Raider, a spine-based survivor who can regenerate new bodies after each death, going deeper in search of SPLithium and the legendary Eye of the Reaper before the predatory Yotsuyama Group gets there first.

Uncle Death returns with his trademark dark humor to guide you through runs that combine extraction strategy, brutal melee combat, and unpredictable PvEvP encounters. Weapons can be dual-wielded for devastating Deathblows and escaping with rare materials enable long-term mastery upgrades.

Let It Die: Inferno releases December 3, 2025, for PS5 and PC.

Marvel Cosmic Invasion

Marvel Cosmic Invasion brings back the classic Marvel beat-’em-up energy that fans have missed for decades, but with modern refinement and a full cosmic threat to deal with. The story follows Annihilus unleashing the Annihilation Wave across the galaxy, pulling heroes from every corner of the Marvel universe into a star-spanning fight. The roster includes 15 characters, each with a unique playstyle, ranging from Spider-Man’s agility and web control to She-Hulk’s grappler toolkit, Rocket’s traps, and Wolverine’s relentless close-range pressure.

Tribute Games’ heavier combat feel focuses on crowd control and placement, while assists, supers, and juggle potential provide depth without compromising accessibility.

Marvel Cosmic Invasion launches on December 1, 2025, for Steam, Nintendo Switch and Switch 2, PlayStation 5, PS4, and Xbox Series X and S.

Metroid Prime 4: Beyond

After years of delays and restarts, Metroid Prime 4: Beyond is finally here, and it’s bringing Samus back to a bigger, wilder mission. A Space Pirate attack on a Galactic Federation facility results in a mysterious artifact that sends Samus to the unknown planet Viewros, where familiar threats reappear in new ways. Sylux, the long-teased rival bounty hunter, is the front and centre this time around, apparently working with cloned Metroids and his own strike team.

Metroid Prime 4: Beyond sticks to the first-person Metroidvania structure that made the Prime trilogy a success, with tight lock-on combat, densely interconnected zones, and plenty of puzzle-driven backtracking. Samus’s new psychic abilities allow her to manipulate the environment and fire a steerable time-freezing beam. \

Metroid Prime 4: Beyond releases December 4, 2025, on Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2.

Octopath Traveler 0

Octopath Traveler 0 brings the HD-2D series back to Orsterra with a greater sense of purpose and a couple of major swings. Set before the first game, you get to build your own hero and the story follows your chosen Ringbearer on a revenge mission following the fall of their hometown, Wishvale. The town’s restoration becomes a core part of the game’s storyline, with character arcs, side stories, and major upgrades all directly related to how you rebuild it.

Moreover, instead of eight fixed heroes, you can recruit from more than 30 travellers and bring all eight into battle at once, while the HD-2D look is back with sharper lighting, higher-resolution textures and greater detail. The game’s combat is still based on Break and Boost, but it is now updated with Action Skills and Ultimate techniques that open up new routes to control each fight.

Octopath Traveller 0 releases on December 4, 2025, for PC, PlayStation 5, PS4, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch, and Nintendo Switch 2.
