May’s release calendar is igniting with some of 2025’s most anticipated titles. Following a relatively quiet April, May brings a packed slate of fresh IPs, innovative spin-offs, and major new instalments in fan-favourite franchises.
id Software’s Doom: The Dark Ages is finally dropping this month, hurling the iconic Doom Slayer into a brutal techno-medieval war against the forces of Hell.
Moreover, Elden Ring: Nightreign is also on the horizon, merging FromSoftware’s signature difficulty with a co-op roguelike format that challenges players and two allies to survive relentless nights and overthrow the Nightlord.
Between all the hype, reveals, and releases, there’s no shortage of games worth keeping an eye on, so here’s everything dropping in May 2025.

1. Among Us 3D
The crewmate chaos is back, and it’s up close and personal this time. Among Us 3D transforms the wildly popular social deduction party game into a fully immersive first-person experience, with no VR headset required. Originally developed as Among Us VR, this new expanded version brings all the original’s tension, tasks, and betrayals into a vivid 3D world, playable on PC and in VR with full cross-play support.
The game includes core features like sabotages, emergency meetings, and task-based minigames, alongside new additions such as proximity voice chat, a wide range of cosmetics, and special limited-time events. A brand-new Tag Mode adds a fast-paced twist, turning one player into the infected as they chase down others to spread the affliction. Furthermore, a new Infected class turns eliminated crewmates into fellow impostors, altering the dynamic of each match.

Among Us 3D is set to deliver plenty of chaotic fun when it releases on May 6, 2025.
2. Doom: The Dark Ages
Get ready to rip and tear through hell like never before, as Doom: The Dark Ages takes the legendary FPS series back in time, dropping players into a grim medieval world where the Doom Slayer’s journey begins. A prequel to 2016’s Doom and Doom Eternal, this new chapter combines brutal close-quarters combat with a dark fantasy setting, featuring massive castles, demon dragons, and hellish hordes.
Armed with brutal new weapons such as a skull-spitting gun, a bone-crushing mace, and a savage chainsaw shield, players will be able to trade futuristic firepower for medieval brutality. With vast sandbox environments, a darker, grittier art style, and old-school mechanics like strafing and grounded movement making a return, Doom: The Dark Ages promises a combat experience that will feel both fresh and nostalgic.
Whether you’re a longtime fan or new to the chaos, Doom: The Dark Ages looks like an unmissable ride when it launches on May 15, 2025, for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S.
3. Elden Ring: Nightreign
Following the massive success of Shadow of the Erdtree, FromSoftware returns with a bold new twist on the Elden Ring universe. Elden Ring: Nightreign takes players to Limveld, a strange and dangerous realm that mirrors parts of Limgrave but distorts them into something far deadlier. Designed as a standalone co-op experience rather than a DLC expansion, Elden Ring: Nightreign will drop you and two friends into a brutal three-day fight for survival, where daytime exploration quickly gives way to deadly nightfall.
You will be able to choose from eight unique Nightfarers, such as a dragon-punching brawler or a deadly mage, and team up with friends to survive a relentless three-day cycle. During the day, you will need to scavenge and fight to build power, but when night falls, the map will start to close in, and terrifying bosses will emerge to hunt you down. If you manage to survive until the third day, you’ll face off against the Nightlord himself for a shot at powerful relics that can reshape your future runs.
Elden Ring: Nightreign launches on May 30, 2025, for PC, PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X, and Xbox One.
4. Metal Eden
Metal Eden is easily one of the most exciting FPS releases hitting this May. Developed by Reikon Games, Metal Eden throws you into a fast, brutal sci-fi battlefield where you’ll need to rely on speed and creativity to survive.
You play as Aska, an android created to rescue humanity’s lost digital psyches on the artificial world of Moebius. Each encounter will require mastery of advanced movement, including wall-running across industrial corridors, air-dashing between enemies, and using verticality to outmanoeuvre waves of heavily armed mechs and elemental war machines. The game’s Core Ripping system takes combat to another level, allowing you to rip out enemy Cores after breaking their armour.
You can either use the Cores to create massive explosions or absorb them to boost your own strength mid-fight. Combine that with a deep weapon modding and body upgrade system, and you have endless ways to push your playstyle.
5. Revenge of the Savage Planet
Revenge of the Savage Planet is the highly anticipated sequel to Journey to the Savage Planet, promising a more expansive and refined experience. The game follows a group of space explorers, cast out from their space program, as they struggle to survive after being stranded on a mysterious, uncharted planet.
Players will focus on crafting, resource management, and uncovering the planet’s secrets as they navigate this hostile environment. The new third-person perspective, coupled with co-op play from the outset, will provide the opportunity to tackle these challenges with friends through both online and local split-screen options. For those looking for a greater challenge, there’s even a secret fifth planet that will offer a darker, more dangerous environment, pushing players’ exploration and combat skills to their limits.
Revenge of the Savage Planet is scheduled for release on May 8, 2025, for PC, Xbox, and PlayStation 5.
