Chinese phone makers like OnePlus and Oppo are using the latest silicon-carbon battery tech to offer larger batteries inside their premium phones. For instance, the OnePlus 13 and the Oppo Find X8, both come with close to 6,000mAh batteries, thanks to the silicon-carbon battery technology.
Samsung, however, missed this opportunity this year, with the Galaxy S25 lineup housing the standard Lithium-ion cell and the same battery capacity as the predecessors. But Samsung will reportedly use silicon-carbon batteries inside its next year’s flagship phones, resulting in improved battery life. Here’s everything you need to know.
The Galaxy S25 successor may pack a larger battery
Samsung is reportedly planning to upgrade the battery capacity of its next year’s Galaxy S flagships. For this, Samsung may opt for silicon-carbon batteries. For those unaware, silicon-carbon batteries replace graphite with silicon in the cathode material, resulting in a better storage capacity.
By using this battery technology, Samsung is looking to upgrade the battery capacity on its S flagships by up to 7,000mAh. This will be a huge upgrade for all the S24 and the new S25 users. However, the exact battery capacity of each model in the series is unknown.
Nonetheless, we’ll finally see big batteries in the Galaxy S flagships. And, we never know, Samsung might as well upgrade the fast charging speeds next year. This year, the S25 duo has 25W fast charging and the S25 Ultra supports 45W fast charging.

Notably, Apple is also expected to use the new battery technology for the upcoming iPhone 17 series, and the much-anticipated Air model could have a large battery with a slim form factor. Looks like Samsung may be preparing to compete with Apple by using the new battery tech for its premium phones.
Other than this, Samsung is also expected to launch one more Galaxy S25 model this year, dubbed the Galaxy S25 Edge. It may pack a 3,900mAh battery and a slim form factor. It’s expected to borrow the main camera of the Galaxy S25 Ultra, but may lack a dedicated telephoto sensor.
