Nothing is set to launch its next flagship smartphone, the Nothing Phone (3), in July. Ahead of its launch, a steady trickle of information helps us learn more about the upcoming phone’s key features. One of them is the design on the back. Most notably, the new Glyph Matrix that will replace the traditional Glyph setup.
We now have more insights about the Glyph Matrix and how it may help you with text messages and alerts.
Here’s how Glyph Matrix may enable pixel art notifications
At the heart of it, the Glyph Matrix system will be nothing but a dot matrix panel. It will be a cluster of micro-LEDs positioned in the upper right corner on the back. These micro-LEDs will glow up when a notification hits the phone, which will allow for pixel-level animations.
This means the Glyph Matrix can display symbolic visuals, and we might very well see some app icons as well. So, if you receive a call, you’ll instantly be notified about it with a pixel art notification on the dot matrix panel.
Interestingly, like the Glyph Interface, the Glyph Matrix may sync with sounds and user interaction. This will make it more fun and intuitive. Users will also be able to personalise their devices with Glyph Matrix.

The Nothing Phone (3) will launch on July 1 at 10:30 PM IST. It will likely be accompanied by Nothing’s first pair of headphones. Both devices could be available for purchase soon after their release.
