OnePlus 13T vs OnePlus 13: What’s the difference

The much-awaited OnePlus 13T is official, and it’s one of the most interesting phones in the OnePlus 13 lineup. The standard OnePlus 13 is for all the power users out there who want the best of OnePlus, whereas the new OnePlus 13T comes as a compact smartphone for those with a love for small phones.

So, out of the two, which phone is for you? Let’s find the answer to that question in this ultimate OnePlus 13T vs OnePlus 13 showdown.

OnePlus 13T vs OnePlus 13: Design and display

The OnePlus 13T brings a new rear design, which isn’t anything like the OnePlus 13. It has a flat screen on the front, a new camera island on the rear, and a compact body. Both have a glass sandwich built, with aluminium on the sides and glass on the back and front.

The OnePlus 13T features a smaller 6.32-inch LTPO AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate, a 1.5K resolution, and 1,600 nits of HBM brightness. The OnePlus 13, on the other hand, has a larger 6.82-inch LTPO AMOLED screen with a 120Hz refresh rate, a 2K resolution, and the same HBM brightness as the 13T.

For screen protection, OnePlus has used a Crystal Shield Glass on the 13T and a Ceramic Guard on the 13. The 13T, however, has an IP65 rating for dust and splash resistance. The OnePlus 13 boasts both IP68 and IP69 ratings, making it more durable to resist dust and water splashes.

The OnePlus 13T has the following dimensions – 150.8 x 71.7, and 8.2mm, making it thin, light, and compact. The standard 13 has the following dimensions – 162.9 x 76.5 x 8.5mm or 8.9mm, depending on the colour variant. Having said that, the OnePlus 13 may feel a bit beefier.

OnePlus 13T vs OnePlus 13: Cameras

The camera is where it gets interesting. The 13T has only two sensors – a 50MP main sensor and a 50MP telephoto unit with 2x optical zoom. The standard 13 has a triple-rear camera system with a 50MP wide, a 50MP ultra-wide, and a 50MP telephoto sensor with 3x optical zoom.

Notably, the 13T has OIS only for the main sensor, whereas the 13 gets OIS for both the main camera and the telephoto sensor. Both phones can shoot 4K videos at 60fps, but the 13 goes up a notch and allows you to shoot at 8K.

Upfront, the 13T gets a 16MP selfie snapper that’s limited to 1080p footage. The 13 gets a 32MP sensor on the front that can shoot 4K videos at 60fps.

OnePlus 13T vs OnePlus 13: Performance, battery, OS

Performance-wise, both house the same Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset from Qualcomm. Undoubtedly, it’s one of the most powerful mobile chipset yet. The OnePlus 13 has a whopping 24GB of RAM and up to 1TB of internal storage. The 13T gets up to 16GB of RAM and 1TB of internal storage.

With such a setup, expect a similar performance, but the 13’s larger size and a bigger vapor chamber may help the device maintain thermals better. The 13T also has a vapor chamber, but it’s smaller, given its compact form factor.

Despite being a small phone, the OnePlus 13T packs a 6,260mAh silicon-carbon battery with 80W wired charging. The OnePlus 13 gets a slightly smaller 6,000mAh silicon-carbon battery with 100W wired and 50W wireless charging support.

Overall, the OnePlus 13T brings a sharp screen, dual cameras, a bigger battery, and a flagship performance – all in a compact form factor. The OnePlus 13, on the other hand, gets you a larger and crisper screen, triple cameras, and wireless charging, while retaining the flagship-level performance.

Both are great phones and are made for different needs. Having said that, you shouldn’t be wrong with any of the two.
