OxygenOS 14 announced: Here are all the new features and eligible OnePlus devices

If you and your OnePlus smartphone have been waiting for an Android 14 upgrade, you’ll be glad to know that OnePlus has announced OxygenOS 14. One of the few smartphone manufacturers to announce its Android 14 release ahead of Google itself, OnePlus has a bunch of new features for its flagship devices.

These include Android-14 specific upgrades like the new Security Centre, as well as the brand’s own additions like the Trinity Engine, HyperTouch and even a new, interesting FileDock feature. Here is a detailed look at all the new features that OnePlus users can expect with the OxygenOS 14 update.

Trinity Engine

OnePlus is introducing a new proprietary software platform called Trinity Engine with the update. A system-wide implementation, Trinity Engine will dictate elements like the usage and optimisation of your CPU, RAM and local storage to bring changes like faster boot and load times, quicker switching between apps, among many other smaller changes.

Trinity Engine will also bring features like HyperBoost, HyperRendering and HyperTouch, which will enhance the performance for gamers when playing resource-intensive titles, including frame-interpolation to make games look more fluid.

File Dock

A new File Dock mechanism is also coming to OxygenOS 14, and it will let users have a sidebar-like dock on at all times, and accessible from all corners of the operating system. The dock will be able to hold text, files, media and links for seamless multitasking, especially when switching between multiple apps.

Using the File Dock is as easy as long-pressing files and other content from most system and third-party applications. The best part? OnePlus says that items in the File Dock will also be accessible across other devices like tablets, which is great if you’re trying to build a OnePlus ecosystem of devices.

Security Centre

OxygenOS 14 also comes with Android 14’s Security Centre feature, that allows you to keep all privacy and security elements in check from one spot. New security elements include the ability to set an ‘Ask every time’ permission for apps that demand access to your media, and an auto-pixelate feature that will pixelate sensitive information like card numbers and contact details in these media files.

Aquamorphic design 2.0

OnePlus is also upping its design language game with OxygenOS 14 with Aquamorphic design 2.0, which brings nature-inspired, fluid bubbles, capsules and panels to more elements across the system. This also includes new sounds, Always-On Display modes and more.

Notes 2.0 and other new apps

OnePlus is also throwing a new Notes 2.0 app that will let users change elements like background colours and fonts, while adding more content to your notetaking like images, text formatting and a built-in find and search functionality.

The company is also throwing in a new Clone Phone 2.0 app for easily moving your data between OnePlus phones, a Multi-Screen Connect 2.0 that lets you multitask more effectively with a OnePlus tablet and tools like Smart Cutout, which allow users to long press on an image to cut subjects like humans and pets out of it, available to now paste anywhere else like in an image editor.

Which phones will get OxygenOS 14?

OnePlus will be bringing OxygenOS 14 to a number of its flagship series and Nord series devices. These are as follows:

OnePlus 11 series – OnePlus 11, OnePlus 11R

OnePlus 10 series – OnePlus 10R, OnePlus 10T, OnePlus 10 Pro

OnePlus 9 series – OnePlus 9, OnePlus 9 Pro, OnePlus 9R, OnePlus 9RT

OnePlus Nord series – OnePlus Nord 3, OnePlus Nord CE 3/Nord CE 3 Lite, OnePlus Nord 2T, OnePlus Nord CE 2 Lite.

Other devices – OnePlus Pad, OnePlus Nord N30, OnePlus 8T

It isn’t clear when exactly OnePlus will begin rolling out the new update for each of these devices, or if any more devices will be added to this list. However, the new changes seem to offer a good mix of design and functionality upgrades this year for existing OnePlus users.
