In an industry obsessed with cramming the best possible specs into phones at nearly every price point, OPPO has quietly doubled down on something refreshingly simple – making a phone that can survive India. Meet the OPPO A5 5G, the brand’s latest entrant in the budget segment, launching just weeks after the OPPO A5x 5G.
Priced starting at Rs 15,499, it’s not pretending to be a flagship killer. Instead, it’s built to last, whether you’re on a sweaty commute, caught in a Mumbai monsoon, or just the kind of person who drops their phone a lot. Here’s everything you need to know about OPPO’s latest budget offering.
OPPO A5 5G: Everything you need to know
The OPPO A5 5G comes wrapped in what OPPO calls a 360-degree Armour Body. Think reinforced glass that’s 160 per cent more impact-resistant than its predecessor (the A3 5G) and a proprietary high-strength alloy frame.
It’s military-grade tough too, certified with MIL-STD-810H and IP65 dust and water resistance. You could say it’s been trained for battle, or at least for being thrown in a backpack with your charger, keys, and that one leaking bottle of hand sanitizer.
The 6.67-inch HD+ LCD screen won’t make your jaw drop, but the 120Hz refresh rate will keep things looking smooth. Paired with a peak brightness of 1,000 nits, it holds up surprisingly well outdoors, which is a must-have for India’s brightness-overkill afternoons. It’s a no-frills screen, sure, but smooth scrolling and decent readability make it a win for users who aren’t pixel peepers.
Powering the A5 5G is the MediaTek Dimensity 6300, a 6nm SoC designed for everyday use. It’s paired with either 6GB or 8GB of RAM, and an additional 8GB of virtual RAM for the multitaskers among us. Graphics are handled by an ARM Mali-G57 MC2 GPU, clocked at a respectable 1072MHz. Storage? A solid 128GB UFS 2.2, expandable up to 1TB.
The 50MP rear camera and 8MP selfie shooter are par for the course, good lighting should get you decent results. Where the A5 5G goes full beast mode is battery life. It houses a 6,000mAh battery that refuses to quit.

OPPO claims the battery will hold over 80 per cent capacity even after 1,700 charge cycles – that’s roughly five years of regular use. And if you’re ever running low, the 45W SuperVOOC charger can top you up to 30 per cent in 21 minutes, or 50 per cent in 37.
Running Android 15 with OPPO’s ColorOS skin, the A5 5G keeps things modern with 5G support across both NSA and SA networks. It’s dual VoLTE too, meaning fewer dropped calls and better coverage if you’re juggling SIMs.
OPPO A5 5G: Pricing and availability
You can pick the OPPO A5 5G up in Aurora Green or Mist White; both subtle, both easy on the eyes. Starting at Rs 15,499 for the 6GB/128GB variant and going up to Rs 16,999 for the 8GB version, the A5 5G offers excellent value for your money. However, if you are looking for other options at this price, you can consider the Vivo V29 5G or the OnePlus Nord CE4 Lite.
The OPPO A5 5G is already available via OPPO India’s online store, and will roll out across online and offline channels shortly. Is it on your wishlist? Drop a comment to let us know, and stay tuned to Unboxed by Croma.
