Small phones have started getting a cult following. And brands are simply fueling the need, with several brands now having at least one compact phone in their portfolio. Now, Oppo has also joined this bandwagon, and the result is a compact Reno phone, which almost feels like a flagship in disguise.
As the name suggests, the Oppo Reno 15 Pro Mini is a mini phone but with Pro features. And, in our limited time with the device, the moniker has really proven itself.
Oppo Reno 15 Pro Mini design and display
The Reno 15 Pro Mini features a clean and polished look. Due to its compact size, the device looks quite minimal in the hands. However, let us warn you that this isn’t as small as the iPhone 13 Mini, but it does stand apart amidst a barrage of large and boxy phones.
The curved corners make one-handed usage a bliss, and the glass-sandwich build makes it feel premium. Oppo has added the ‘Reno’ branding just below the camera, which is a first, as Reno phones don’t really have such branding.
For instance, the Find X phones have a Hasselblad branding, and it makes them look like signature devices. And that’s exactly what Oppo seems to be doing with the Reno lineup now.
The compact body of the phone holds a 6.32-inch panel. What makes this screen stand out is the symmetrical bezel. It makes the phone look cleaner and more user-friendly.

The AMOLED panel used here is probably the same as the Reno 15 Pro, and it’s quite sharp and vibrant. It offers deep blacks and great sunlight legibility. There’s also 120Hz high refresh rate support for smooth scrolling and gaming.
Oppo Reno 15 Pro Mini cameras
Cameras are clearly one of the highlights of the Reno 15 Pro Mini. It doesn’t have the modest 50MP main camera, which we are used to seeing in most phones. Rather, you get a 200MP main sensor, which is quite impressive. The photos look pleasing, and you don’t really need to go that extra mile to edit them.
All photos have a cinematic tone, and the white balance appears to be set a little on the yellowish side. We found the cameras almost similar to those of the Oppo Find X9, which we tested last month.
The ultra-wide camera is handy for landscapes and group shots, and it manages to maintain consistency with the main sensor. The telephoto camera adds flexibility, and it’s also set to 120x max, similar to Find X9.
We are yet to test the low-light performance and the video performance of the phone, but all that will be in our full review.
Oppo Reno 15 Pro Mini performance, battery, software
The Dimensity 8450 inside is quite powerful, and can easily handle day-to-day tasks as well as full-fledged games. We tried playing Genshin Impact, we had a lag-free experience. With 12GB of RAM, it can hold several apps in the background. The device boots on Android 16-based ColorOS 16, and it’s snappy and feature-rich.
The battery appears to be pretty good, but we are yet to drain it fully from 100 per cent to give our verdict. The device supports 80W fast charging, which comes in handy when you need quick top-ups.
Oppo Reno 15 Pro Mini: Early Verdict
Despite its small size, the Oppo Reno 15 Pro Mini feels like a complete phone and an all-rounder. It offers one-handed usage, great cameras, and a snappy performance. It doesn’t exactly feel like a mid-premium phone, but rather a flagship, which is probably why Pro is in the name.
While the Reno 15 Pro Mini seems impressive, wait up for our full review to know more about its performance and cameras. We’ll also compare it against the two other compact phones available, like the Vivo X200 FE and the OnePlus 13s.
