Oppo Reno 15 Pro Mini vs OnePlus 13s

Small phones, big decisions

Oppo Reno 15 Pro Mini vs OnePlus 13s

Small phones are having a bit of a moment right now. And we’ve two recent launches that fit the bill: the freshly launched Oppo Reno 15 Pro Mini and the OnePlus 13s from last year. Both seemingly carry near-flagship-level experiences without requiring you to lug around something the size of a paperback novel.

However, they take pretty different approaches to what a compact phone should be. So which one actually deserves your money?

Oppo Reno 15 Pro Mini vs OnePlus 13s: Design and display

Both phones land at nearly identical sizes, with 6.32-inch displays that make one-handed use genuinely possible again. That said, the design philosophies here diverge a little.

The OnePlus 13s weighs in at 185 grams and measures just over 8.2mm thick. OnePlus also introduced the Plus Key on this one, which is essentially their answer to Apple’s Action Button. You can programme it to launch the camera, toggle Do Not Disturb, or fire up an AI tool. The Reno 15 Pro Mini weighs almost the same at 187 grams but packs a glass-sandwich build with Oppo’s glittery ribbon design etched into the back.

Overall, both phones offer similar designs, though OnePlus 15s looks cleaner.

Display-wise, the OnePlus offers an LTPO panel that scales between 1Hz and 120Hz, hitting 1,600 nits peak brightness. The Oppo pushes that to 1,800 nits and throws in Gorilla Glass 7i protection. Both are sharp and vibrant enough for daily use.

Oppo Reno 15 Pro Mini vs OnePlus 13s: Cameras

Things get more interesting here. The OnePlus 13s has just two rear cameras. You get a 50MP main sensor with OIS and a 50MP telephoto with 2x optical zoom. In our review, the primary shooter proved fast and dependable, producing crisp images in daylight and holding up reasonably well at night. The telephoto delivers pleasing portrait results, though it lacks OIS.

The Reno 15 Pro Mini goes the opposite direction entirely. In our limited testing so far, that 200MP main sensor paired with Samsung’s HP5 produces photos with a cinematic tone right out of the gate.

You also get a 50MP ultrawide for landscapes and group shots, plus a 50MP periscope telephoto with 3.5x optical zoom. The ultrawide is something the OnePlus simply doesn’t have, and that’s a genuine gap if you shoot a lot of architecture or travel photos.

On paper, not only does this phone boast more cameras, but the sensors inside seem superior too. We’ll be putting the cameras through their paces in our full review soon enough, so stay tuned.

Oppo Reno 15 Pro Mini vs OnePlus 13s: Performance and everything else

The OnePlus 13s runs on Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite, which is the same chip powering several top-tier flagships. Pair that with 12GB of LPDDR5X RAM and UFS 4.0 storage, and everyday tasks feel effortless. Games like Genshin Impact run smoothly at high settings with minimal throttling. The Reno 15 Pro Mini opts for MediaTek’s Dimensity 8450, which is still plenty capable.

Battery is where the Oppo pulls ahead on paper. That 6,200mAh cell is generous for something this compact. The OnePlus counters with 5,850mAh, which in our testing, delivers between 10 and 12 hours of screen-on time in real-world use. Both support 80W fast charging.

As for software, both phones run the same thing with a different branding, so it should not be the deciding factor.

Oppo Reno 15 Pro Mini vs OnePlus 13s: Which one should you choose?

The OnePlus 13s starts at Rs 54,999 for the 12GB/256GB variant, while the Oppo Reno 15 Pro Mini asks for Rs 59,999 for the same configuration. That’s a Rs 5,000 difference that might matter depending on what you prioritise.

If raw processing power and software longevity rank high on your list, the OnePlus makes a strong case. The Snapdragon 8 Elite is simply the more powerful chip, and those update promises are reassuring.

But if camera versatility matters more to you, those extra bucks get you a 200MP main sensor, an ultrawide lens, and better telephoto reach on the Oppo. Neither choice is wrong here. It really just depends on what trade-offs you’re willing to make.
