Philips ‘Signature Series’ air fryer launched in India with Smart Sensing technology

Hosting a party is fun until meal prep gets overwhelming. Luckily, we have plenty of kitchen appliances today to help us whip up an exquisite feast in no time. The air fryer, for one, has significantly reduced the hassles of dealing with oil and ensures the grub prepared is guilt-free.

Philips has recently introduced the newest Signature Series addition to its lineup of air fryers. With the right amount of capacity and smart chef programs, the appliance is moulded especially for the Indian audience. If you missed the announcement, here are all the details you might need:

Philips 'Signature Series' air fryer: Key features and specifications

Philips has introduced the ‘Signature Series’ air fryer as a successor to the Philips Air Fryer HD9257, which launched last summer. This year, however, the appliance comes upgraded with XXL cooking capacity (of up to 7.3 litres) that accommodates larger portions of food. Philips has incorporated a seven-layer rapid air technology that caters to a faster airflow and uses 90 per cent less fat.

It also comes with fat removal technology to help separate and capture extra fat up to 50 per cent. The feature creates a ‘tornado-like‘ effect within the appliance to remove excess fat, which is then collected at the bottom of the appliance. Like its predecessor, the air fryer will also sport pre-set modes to cook your favourite dishes within minutes.

That said, this time around, the brand goes on to mention that the air fryer will cook 1.5 times faster than an OTG oven, without the need to preheat the appliance. For easy integration and recipes at your fingertips, the Philips ‘Signature Series’ air fryer can be connected to the NutriU app where users can access a repository of over 1,000 air fryer-appropriate image-guided recipes.

Lastly, you also have a bunch of features such as automatic shut-off and a heat-protected outer shell for added convenience.

What is Smart Sensing technology?

Philips has equipped its ‘Signature Series’ air fryer with Smart Sensing technology that adjusts cooking time, along with temperatureto fetch you the best possible results. This addition will typically work to remove the ‘uncertainty‘ behind food being fully cooked. According to the brand, the five Smart Chef programs were created after extensive research into its consumer’s most loved dishes.

Philips also states that it was based on results derived after cooking, amongst others, up to 540kg of frozen fries. The final result included modes that could help a user simplify the cooking process for everyday food items; these include chicken, chicken drumsticks, frozen and fresh fries and an entire fish.

To use the program, all you need to do is add the food item to the air fryer, select the program and allow the device to derive the final cooking time of the dish. During the course, the device will automatically adjust the cooking time and temperature setting based on the food you have selected. But for users that prefer their own creativity, the Philips ‘Signature Series’ air fryer also comes with a manual mode.

Philips 'Signature Series' air fryer: Pricing and availability

The Philips ‘Signature Series’ air fryer is available for Rs 39,995 on the brand’s official website. However, it will also be made available across major electronics retail and e-commerce portals. Other brands offering a similar set of features within this price range include the Wonderchef Crimson Edge 23L air fryer and the Instant Pot Vortex Pro 9.46L digital air fryer.
