The sands are finally starting to settle, and yes, Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Remake finally has a release window!
Ubisoft has confirmed on their social media, that the long-awaited remake is now expected to drop by March 2026, bringing some long-overdue closure to gaming fans who’ve been hanging on since the original announcement way back in 2020.
What happened so far in the development of Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time?
In case you missed it, this remake has had quite the rocky journey. From multiple delays and underwhelming early footage to a complete development overhaul and studio switch, the project was nearly written off by the community.
But with Ubisoft Montreal – the studio behind the acclaimed Assassin’s Creed and Far Cry titles – now at the helm, things are looking way more promising.
The updated timeline was revealed during Ubisoft’s latest earnings call, where they placed Sands of Time Remake in their FY2025-26 lineup. That puts the game alongside other upcoming titles like Anno 117, The Division Resurgence, and Rainbow Six Mobile.
It’s all part of Ubisoft’s broader efforts to get things back on track after several rough quarters, layoffs, and shifting release schedules.
So, what can we expect from the remake now? While there’s still no gameplay footage from the rebooted build, it’s safe to say we’re in for a far more polished experience than what was initially teased. Current-gen consoles are the target this time, and given the extended development window, expectations are understandably high.

Could this remake finally do justice to the beloved 2003 classic? It’s starting to look that way. And while we’re still quite a distance from the finish line, fans can finally breathe a little easier knowing that the sands are moving, just a bit more predictably now.
Here’s hoping we get an official trailer or gameplay tease sometime later this year!
