Razer’s new Kraken gaming headphones come with Pokémon-themed ears on top

Razer has just dropped a new pair of cans that will basically turn you into a cat-like Pokémon character when you put them on. These headphones are the Kraken Kitty V2, and they are themed after Gengar from the Pokémon universe. While the device was previously only launched in Asia, its availability has now been expanded.

A mashup between spooky design and great specs

The first thing you’ll notice about these cans besides those cat ears is their cool purple colour. The colour is a product of Razer’s growing Pokémon collaboration, which already includes gear inspired by Pikachu and the original trio of starter creatures.

This new collaboration is based on Gengar, a popular Ghost-type character from the franchise. The character is known for its shadowy appearance and playful pranks.

The design is definitely the main event here. Both earcups sport an RGB-illuminated silhouette of the Pokémon, all customisable through Razer’s Chroma software.

Beyond its looks, the headset packs some serious audio hardware. It uses Razer’s TriForce 40mm drivers which separate audio frequencies to deliver clearer highs, balanced mids, and punchy bass. It also supports 7.1 surround sound for PC gamers on Windows 10 or higher, helping pinpoint in-game audio cues with better accuracy.

Communication is handled by a Razer HyperClear Cardioid microphone built to zero in on your voice while filtering out background noise. The headphones connect via a standard USB-A cable and feature full-ear cushions made from fabric and plush leatherette for comfort during long gaming sessions.

While the Gengar headset can now be added to gaming setups in new regions, there has been no official announcement about an Indian launch just yet. Gamers here hoping to catch this one might have to keep an eye on unofficial sellers or import channels instead.
