Realme GT 8 Pro to feature advanced Ricoh GR camera features

Last week, Realme released an official confirmation that it will partner with Japanese camera brand Ricoh Imaging to offer an enhanced photography experience on its upcoming flagship, the Realme GT 8 Pro. Today, the brand held an event in Beijing to reveal the GT 8 Pro advanced camera features powered by Ricoh GR technology, marking a major step forward for mobile photography enthusiasts.

At the event, Chase Xu, Vice President and CMO of Realme, and Kazunobu Saiki, General Manager of Ricoh Imaging’s Camera Business Division, highlighted how the Realme-Ricoh collaboration aims to deliver a creative and authentic street photography experience.

The Realme GT 8 Pro will feature a newly co-developed ultra-high transparency lens group that meets Ricoh GR’s optical standards. This ensures superior anti-glare performance, high resolving power, and minimal distortion for sharper, more natural photos.

The smartphone will also introduce a dedicated Ricoh GR Mode, which can be accessed by a simple swipe on the camera interface. When accessed, it will make a tactile shutter sound inspired by the Ricoh GR IV. It will also feature a Snap Mode preset that will assist in focusing distance precisely. The GT 8 Pro’s camera app will also offer two classic GR focal length, such as 28mm and 40mm.

The Realme GT 8 Pro will come with five Ricoh GR tone options, such as Standard, Positive Film, Negative Film, Monotone, and High-Contrast B&W, along with a Custom Tone mode for personal adjustments. The device will also include Ricoh GR-style watermarks, curated albums, and tone-sharing options to nurture a social photography community among creators.

Shown above is one of the camera samples captured using the different GR tone modes, which were shared by Realme through its Weibo micro-blogging platform in China. Rumours have revealed that it will have a Sony LYT-700 50MP main camera, an ultra-wide lens, and a 200MP Samsung HP5 periscope camera, along with swappable camera modules.

Realme is yet to confirm the Realme GT 8 Pro’s launch date for China. In India, it is rumoured to launch on November 11.
