Realme is making a smartwatch comeback with the Watch 5 after a brief hiatus

Realme is jumping back into the smartwatch game after a year-long break with the Watch 5, which has just been completely outed in a massive new leak. Detailed marketing images and a full spec sheet reveal a device that looks uncannily like an Apple Watch Ultra 2. Let’s dive in.

Quality specs and a “gaming mode” of sorts

Despite the Apple Watch looks, it hides a few very un-Apple features, including a dedicated mode for mobile gaming. Still, there is no getting around it, the Realme Watch 5 is a dead ringer for Cupertino’s premium wearable, including that square case and strap design. Those same leaked images, courtesy of XpertPick, show it will be available in black and silver finishes.

The front is dominated by a 1.97-inch square AMOLED screen with a 390 x 450 resolution. This has a peak brightness of 600 nits, which should be enough for outdoor viewing. Users will get to customise the look with over 300 different watch faces.

As for the gaming mode mentioned above, it provides quick access to tools and displays simplified stats while you play on your phone. The watch also includes a Bluetooth intercom function, allowing for direct voice calls to other devices without needing a smartphone connection. For navigation, it gets multi-band GNSS support covering five satellite systems for precise outdoor tracking.

Beyond these goodies, you get the usual suite of features like high-quality Bluetooth calling, NFC for payments, a compass, and standard health sensors for heart rate and SpO2 monitoring.

Powering the whole experience is a 460mAh battery. Realme claims this is good for up to 14 days of typical use or a lengthy 20 days if you switch on its “Light Smart Mode”. The watch also has an IP68 rating, which means it can handle dust and splashes, but you probably shouldn’t take it for a swim.

The company has not made an official announcement yet, but these polished leaks suggest a launch is just around the corner.
