Red Dead Online update brings in new story missions and zombies

Contrary to what many would like to believe, Red Dead Redemption 2’s multiplayer isn’t dead. After what seems like ages, the cowboy game has got an update, which introduces new story missions, and zombies.

Red Dead Online Strange Tales of the West update

Called ‘Strange Tales of the West’, this new update introduces four new cryptid-themed missions. You will play on behalf of author Theodore Levin, who is investigating outlandish claims of fearsome monsters, cults and viral outbreaks across the Wild West.

The first mission, called Strange Tales of Modern Science, will see gamers fight off killer robots. The second mission, called Strange Tales of the Bayou, will see gamers facing human and non-human threats as they try and bring back a creature from deep Swamp Folk territory.

The Strange Tales of the Wilderness will see gamers hunting down a gang of murdering bandits in Tall Trees. And finally, the Strange Tales of the Plague mission will have you fighting off a horde of zombies. It is an ode to the fan-favourite Red Dead Redemption Undead Nightmare.

How to play Red Dead Online Strange Tales of the West

The Strange Tales of the West update is being made available for free on the PlayStation, Xbox, and PC.

Red Dead Online was released back in 2018, but in recent years, updates with new content for Red Dead Redemption 2 fans have been as rare as finding the Perlino Andalusian horse in the game. While there have been some patches to fix bugs, the last meaningful update with playable content came out back in September 2022.

Interestingly, the Strange Tales of the West update is being called volume 1, which implies that there could be more chapters in the pipeline.
