Redmi has launched a new smartphone for budget buyers. The all-new Redmi A5 comes with a fresh design, featuring a vertical camera system and a water-drop notch panel. Some of its other highlights include a 120Hz refresh rate, 32MP cameras, and a large battery. Here’s everything you need to know.
Redmi A5 specifications and key features
The Redmi A5 features a 6.88-inch water-drop notch display with an FHD+ resolution. It’s an IPS LCD screen with a 120Hz refresh rate for smooth scrolling and 240Hz touch sampling rate for faster touch response.
In terms of cameras, there’s a dual-rear camera system with a 32MP main sensor and an auxiliary sensor. It has an 8MP camera on the front for selfies and video calls. The rear and front cameras are capable of recording 1080p videos at 30fps.
For performance, the smartphone is powered by the Unisoc T7250 chipset, paired with up to 4GB of LPDDR4X RAM and 128GB of eMMC 5.1 internal storage. It packs a large 5,200mAh battery with support for 15W wired charging via the USB-C port.

The smartphone boots on Android 15 out of the box. It has a side-mounted fingerprint scanner for added security. For connectivity, there’s dual-SIM 4G VLTE, dual-band Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.2, and GPS support.
Redmi A5 price and availability
The Redmi A5 is priced at Rs 6,499 for the 3GB RAM and 64GB of internal storage. The 4GB RAM and 128GB storage variant is priced at Rd 7,499. The device will be available for purchase from April 16 in online and offline stores across India.
In the same price range, you can also check out the Vivo Y28e 5G and the Realme C61 4G. The former is a 5G smartphone, whereas the latter has an IP54 rating for dust and water resistance.
