Redmi has finally unveiled the much-hyped Redmi K90 series in China, which comprises the standard Redmi K90 and a more powerful model called the Redmi K90 Pro Max. While it is positioned below the Xiaomi 17 series, the Redmi K90 Pro Max packs the same display, chipset, and primary camera as the Xiaomi 17 Pro Max. Furthermore, it houses a larger battery. Continue reading ahead to know everything about the K90 series.
Redmi K90 Pro series: Specs and features
The Redmi K90 Pro Max features a large 6.9-inch OLED screen that offers 2K resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate. On the other hand, the K90 is a smaller phone equipped with a 6.59-inch OLED screen, offering the same resolution and refresh rate. However, the Pro Max version has LTPO technology, which allows it to dynamically adjust the refresh rate down to 1Hz when displaying static content, improving battery efficiency.
The Redmi K90 Pro Max houses the latest and most powerful Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset, whereas the K90 runs on last year’s Snapdragon 8 Elite, still a solid performer for gaming and everyday use. Both phones feature LPDDR5x RAM, UFS 4.1 storage, and Android 16 layered with HyperOS 3.0.
Battery life is one of the biggest highlights of the Redmi K90 series. The Pro Max model carries a massive 7,650mAh battery, marking the largest-ever cell seen on a Xiaomi device. The standard K90 is backed by a 7,100mAh battery.

In terms of optics, the Redmi K90 Pro Max borrows the 50MP OmniVision Light Fusion 950 main camera from the Xiaomi 17 Pro Max, complete with OIS support. It is accompanied by a 50MP ultra-wide lens and a 50MP periscope telephoto camera offering 5x optical zoom and OIS. For selfies and video calls, it sports a 32MP front-facing camera.
The standard K90 features a 50MP OmniVision 800 primary camera with OIS, an 8MP ultra-wide lens, and a 50MP telephoto camera with 2.5x optical zoom and OIS. On the front, it houses a 20MP selfie shooter.
