Xiaomi is doubling down on its Make-in-India commitment with the launch of the Redmi Watch Move. This is the brand’s first smartwatch to be locally manufactured. Built at Optiemus’s Noida facility, this new wearable enters the Indian market packed with a design that will be appreciated by many, health tracking features, and smart integrations, all without breaking the bank.
You won’t have to break the bank for this watch
Up front, the Watch Move sports a 1.85-inch 2.5D curved AMOLED display that hits up to 600 nits of brightness, making it easy to read even under harsh sunlight. The always-on-display (AoD) gives it a nice touch for the folks on the go and do not want to tap the face of their watch every time they want to see the time.

However, do not that, as is the case with every gadget with a screen, the AoD, if turned on the entire time, will eat into your battery quite significantly. A spinning crown adds tactile fluidity to navigation. This is something rarely seen at this price point, as most manufacturers resort to having a single function crown in the budget range, with a multi-function dial reserved for their pricier offerings.
Fitness-wise, there’s plenty under the hood. The watch supports over 140 workout modes, and also tracks heart rate, SpO₂, stress levels, sleep stages, and even menstrual cycles. With an IP68 rating, it’s built to survive everything from sweaty workouts to accidental splashes.
But what really makes daily driving the watch a breeze, is Xiaomi’s own HyperOS. Unlike typical budget wearables that act as glorified fitness trackers, the Watch Move syncs notes, calendar events, tasks, and even live weather updates from your phone. One can say that this watch, for the price it comes at, is close to blurring the line between smartwatch and smart assistant. There’s also Bluetooth calling and Hindi language support, making it more relevant for Indian users.
Battery life of the Redmi Watch Move is respectable. You get up to 14 days without AoD and around 5 days with it active. And at ₹1,999, the value proposition is hard to ignore. The Watch Move goes on sale May 1 and pre-orders open April 24.
