Samsung has finally launched its most affordable Galaxy Book 5 model in India, and with it, significantly lowered the barrier to entry for its new AI-powered laptop lineup.
The company first introduced the series earlier this year with its premium 360 and Pro variants, which carried a starting price of Rs 1,14,990. This new base model slashes the entry point to a much more palatable Rs 77,990.
Intel Core Ultra chip and AI features under Rs 80,000
The real story here is the hardware under the hood. The laptop comes in four flavours, with options for Intel’s Core Ultra 5 or Core Ultra 7 processors. These chips provide a serious kick, delivering a 38 per cent improvement in graphics performance over previous models.
These laptops also include a 12 TOPS Neural Processing Unit. This is the bit of silicon that powers a bunch of slick AI features like Circle to Search, Copilot integration, and Samsung’s own Transcript Assist and Photo Remaster tools. You can spec the machine with up to a beefy 32GB of LPDDR5x RAM and a 1TB NVMe SSD.
The rest of the spec sheet holds up well for the price. The machine is built around a 15.6-inch full HD display that offers 300 nits of brightness and has an anti-glare coating to keep reflections at bay. Samsung claims the 61.2Wh battery provides plenty of juice for up to 19 hours of video playback. The unit refuels via a 45W USB-C charger.
Connectivity is robust with an HDMI port, two USB-C ports, two standard USB 3.2 ports, a microSD card reader, and even an old-school RJ45 LAN port. The package is rounded out with a 1080p webcam, stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos support, Wi-Fi 6, and a fingerprint sensor for security.
You can snag the new laptop from Samsung’s official online and physical stores plus other authorised retailers. It only comes in a single Grey colourway for now. Buyers can also take advantage of bank cashback offers up to Rs 10,000 and a 24-month no-cost EMI plan.
