Not everything iconic gets to stay forever, especially in tech. Just ask Samsung’s S-Pen. After quietly downgrading the Bluetooth features of the S-Pen in the Galaxy S25 Ultra, Samsung might be preparing for a more dramatic shift with its next flagship.
According to fresh reports, the Galaxy S26 Ultra could do away with the built-in S-Pen altogether. Yes, the stylus that once defined the Note series, and then elegantly embedded itself into the Ultra line, may soon be living outside your phone.
The S-Pen may be out, but support isn't gone
Latest details from tipster PandaFlash X suggest that while the Galaxy S26 Ultra will still support the S-Pen, it won’t house it anymore. The stylus will need to be carried separately, marking a symbolic end to Samsung’s integrated stylus era.

The reasoning? Slimmer phones, sleeker silhouettes. The trend that started with the curved-edge S25 Ultra looks to be continuing; and the S-Pen slot might just be the price we pay for it.
Making room for magnets
But it’s not all subtraction. Removing the S-Pen from the phone’s internals could open the door for something new, something magnetic.
Sources suggest Samsung is planning to bring Qi2 wireless charging to the Galaxy S26 Ultra. For the uninitiated, this is the same magnet-based wireless charging tech that powers Apple’s MagSafe ecosystem. If this leak holds true, the S26 Ultra might finally support magnetic charging natively; no more clunky third-party cases required.
It’s a welcome move. The Galaxy S25 Ultra technically supports Qi2 charging, but only if you slap on a case with built-in magnets. With Qi2 magnets baked directly into the chassis of the S26 Ultra, Samsung may be finally ready to go head-to-head with the seamless charging experiences Apple users have enjoyed for years.
There’s also a bit of engineering logic at play here. Strong internal magnets required for Qi2 tech could mess with the S-Pen’s digitiser system; another reason why Samsung might be kicking the stylus out.
Goodbye, pocket stylus. Hello, magnetic future?
If the leaks are accurate, the S26 Ultra represents quite the pivot. Less about packing everything into a single device, and more about modular functionality that keeps the phone slim, powerful, and future-forward. One where you might have to toss the S-Pen in your bag, but get magnetic charging in return.
Of course, none of this is official yet. But as always, stay tuned to Unboxed by Croma, we’ll have all the updates as the Galaxy S26 Ultra inches closer to launch.
